Checking for a 9800pro's core

Is the only way to check a BBA 9800 PRO card's core by removing the heatink and taking a look at it? Or are there programs out there that can detect it?

You will have to remove the heatsink and physically look to determine whether your core is either the R350 or R360. Dont trust programs as they can lie.

Oh, thanks for the advice. Is there a FAQ flying around the forum on how to remove the heatsink the right way?

You should see two plastic pins holding down the heatsink, turn the card over and Pinch the black clips on the back of the card with some pliers. Make sure you dont slip and hit some of the tiny capacitors near the mounting hole.

Ati-tool states what the core is, but who knows if its accurate. for both my 9800pro and 9800pro AIW, it says R350 core. Since I have one of them out of my machine i guess i will double check and post back.

Aw..damn I have samsung RAM chips on mines! lol, but I've heard that R360 cores' back should look somethin like this at the back of the card, with the temp sensor, is it true?:

Also, should I just stick it the heatsink back after I remove it or should I apply some AS5? Thanks for the follow up PGT96AJT and thanks for the mini-guide Inspire!

I didn't know any 9800pro's had temps sensors, I just thought it was the XT's. And yeah, slap some AS5 on there, I put some on mine when I put the heatsink back on.
