Firefox Locks Up System? or CPU Problem?

Thread Starter
Has anyone else had firefox completely lock up their system after a couple of minutes? It just started happening today, and I have scanned for viruses and maleware but nothing was found. I just reinstalled it and it seems to be working fine now, but I'd figure I'd ask just in case.

yeah its been happening to me for a while... not sure why though

I had it happen once. Was an add-on. I am pretty sure it was FlashGot or DownloadThemAll add-on. It would load up for about a minute, sometimes less, then lock up. Uninstalling the add-on wouldn't even fix it, had reinstall firefox completely.

Alright, I reinstalled it and it worked fine for about 2 hours, and just crashed on me again.

I just looked at my core temps though, and they are all over the place

38-42-38-35 idle.
with prime 95, it shot through the roof and was totally scattered 86-72-83-77

The same thing is happening to me. I'm using FireFox 21 on XP SP3 and Vista 64, and W7 64 (home premiums).
After a few minutes of web browsing (looking for jobs) hard lock of the SYSTEM.
Mouse clicks don't work, power button doesn't work (of course holding the button for 4 secs works).
I've noticed this crept in version 20 ro 21. Not exactly sure. I thought it was my machine, but it is happening on multiple.
Also, not events are posted to help track down the problem.

I disabled [use hardware acceleration when available] in the firefox options menu and have not had any more problems.

The same lock up occurs when I open Origin.

It is however, brief.

I would suspect 1 of 2 things....

1) Hard Drive Problems...

2) Haxz / Viruses / Malware...

When I say haxz, I mean malicious attacks on your computer via the internet... via either scripting, or direct hardware attacks.. (via another computer or scripting ran through the browser)

I'm extremely careful about what websites I visit due to the nature of the web...

happens to me on occasions. however for me, its mainly due to the fact that i have multiple video tabs(15+) in one window and a separate window for many other things. it gets kind of annoying when i have a lot of videos pre buffered then having to reload them all frown.gif

avg. 60-65C under full load on prime95/IBT ambient is ~21c
