You have $700 total or another $700 an top of what you already listed?

Good choice of CPU as the San Diego is a hell of an OCer. Do not know anything about the ATi stuff but does that X1600 do crossfire? If not then why get a crossfire board? Future plans? Cause you can save a little jack and get a single PCIe 16x board. As for the OCZ mem get the best you can afford. The gold series is good and the platinum is better. Get a 2 x 512 PC3200 dual channel kit. If you plan to OC the CPU you will need a good HSF and good PSU as well. You will also need to a case to house it in if you already do not have one.

The CPU and motherboard are both excellent choices.

As for the question about why use that motherboard without crossfire.
The ASUS A8R-MVP offers fantastic overclocking for low cost. Furthermore how many DFI SLI motherboards out there are actually running SLI ?

For the graphics/video card the X1600XT offers some newer features but the X800GTO2 will out perform it and would have to be the best midrange card out there. Another option would be a 6000GS if you favour Nvidia.

THe G.SKILL HX or HZ seems to be doing quite well for the value it offers. Some good TCCD would also see you well.

Don't forhet a decent PSU for the setup to be included in your budget.

cheers

I don't suggest Crossfire,SLI or that video card. The 1600xt didn't do to well in this review, get a less expensive motherboard without Crossfire and add that to your vid card budget and get something better. You'd have enough for a MSI Neo4 and a 7800gt if you saved like $20 more dollars.

For the video card, I'd reccomend either a 6800GS or the new 7600GT (just came out today). I don't know much about the 7600GT, but it's got 256MB GDDR3 256 bit memory, and really fast clocks (550/1500, I think), so it can't be to bad.
