One thing to check is your two optical drives to see what the jumper is set on. Your old motherboard may have gone to "by cable" configuration by default. The jumper may be set to primary, and if this is the case then this would supercede any cable configurations. You might see if you can change this in your bios to detect by cable setting, but adjusting the jumpers would be the prime way to do it.

Not knowing what your previous board was and the chipset it had I am assuming it is not the same. So once you get your HDD detected you will likely have to complete a fresh install of windows. So if you have put in you old motherboard you might want to back up your important files and proceed from there.

Sidenote: First you might just try disconnecting your two optical drives and see if that clears up your problem because this will take the two optical drives out of the equation. Then check into the jumper thing.

euphoricmix thanks for your response. I have fixed my problem. I swear, everytime I run into a problem which I can't solve and then post onto a forum, I suddenly figure it out.

It turns out one of the shunts for the jumpers on one of the optical drives was broken - split in two so the pins weren't bridged.

I give a resounding *** for that, but glad it's fixed.

Thanks for your consideration!

I do the same thing at times. It also helps to just step away for a while and think things through instead of jumping from one thing to the next. Glad to see you are up and running again.

Hey guys, i installed the new 1.90 Bios. I have taken my FSB to 285, have not tried any higher as i don't want it to crash. I am running 260*11 on a 1:1 ratio with 3-4-4-8 at 2.86GHz. I'm stil yet to test them to see of its stable.

A few questions though..

- how do you increase the RAM to the voltage (VDIMM?)
- Do i need to manually set my Hyper Transport Freq to 600MHZ..?

hey, i just got the 1.9 bios, and so far its the best, I was running 1.2, because it was the most stable and I could push it the farthest, but, with 1.9, I managed to get my HTT to 295 MHz, I went to 300, but it didn't boot, so, what I'm running right now is 273 MHz, 11x multi. I passed the 3.0 GHz Mark!!
It's at 3003 MHz!!

Naj-
In your bios you have two options, forgive me it has been a while since I looked at the ASRock bios, choose the one that gives you the highest voltage. It will give you around 2.7 volts. If that is not enough for you, you might want to consider the VDimm Mod. Just to let you know I tried several types of VDimm mods and did not have luck with any of them. As to your second question in your bios you have Northbridge and Southbridge frequency, select the Northbridge one and you can adjust it manually. It is set to auto by default and will do this "automatically".

Nitrous-Oxide-
WOOT. Awesome, keep up the good work.

C-J-
It is hard to say what you will get out of your system. Because of the multiplier of that cpu I do not think the ASRock motherboard will hold you back, especially if you use bios version 1.9. I venture to guess you will get around 2.6GHz with your processor, and have all four dimms occupied might cause you a headache so a divider will be a must and running your memory at a command rate of 2T will most likely be necessary. If you have any specific questions go ahead and start your own thread and we will try to help you through it. Welcome the Overclock.

Cheers, i have manually set the HT to X3 on both and increased DRAM voltage to high so it shiuld give me 2.7.

I think my memory is really holding me back, I was only able to get it to 2.37ghz and had to put the memory at a 3.0 leg. The temps all stayed fine and voltage was fine. I plays in game fine but with OCCT it was able to make it error. Really seemed much smoother and faster in game with it at just 205 / 2.27 and memory at 2.5. I guess it is time for some new memory.
