Ok, my friend has gone from a SOYO Dragon KT-600 With two sata in raid-0 to an asrock dual. The asrock is detecting both drives but not that they are in raid. Is it possible to get this board to detect the current raid setup without loosing the data in the raid set (I know we will have to reinstall windows but all his data is backed up on a partition of this raid array). The raid setup menu see's both drives but not what raid type. Is there a way to have it set up it's version of raid without basically formatting the disks? Any idea's?

The 2 MBs have different RAID controlers, thus, full reload and the usual SATA/RAID drivers @ the F6 prompt
Did you set up the RAID aray in the BIOS?

Read the part in quotes again, I'm not asking about windows and raid drivers, I'm asking about the raid array itself. You know when the board boots and you can go into raid setup and it tells you the size of both drives and then the raid info? Well it says the size of both drives but not raid info, I know it's two different raid controllers but I was hoping that the array would carry over as his backup data is on a second partition of this raid array. Any idea's now?

This thread dead...?

I have ordered a 250GB Seagate 7200.10 SATA II HDD. I will have it delivered tommorow. I just need abit of guidance through the installation process. I shall be keeping my MAXTOR 80GB IDE HDD as a storage for big files but the Seagate will be what i use on a daily basis.

So i understand that this board supports only 1 SATA II HDD and there are no jumpers for primary or slave. I will be doing a fesh install of XP but what concerns me is do i need t make a "SATA II DRIVER DISKETTE" as stated in the manual..? I don't have a floppy drive so will need to create a bootable CD, which i have never done! Seagate mention to use DiscWizard 2003 before installing HDD.. So i have found an ISO image for that so can create a bootable CD.

I'm just seriously confused! Can someone advise on what i definately need to do in order to install a SATA II HDD and install a XP on there...

You will only need a floppy disk if you have a raid setup, otherwise windows see's the sata like any other hdd.

Ok I read this topic until about page 12, and I still have some questions.

I'm going to get this AsRock 939 Dualsata mobo with a San Diego 4000+ and OCZ Platinum 1gb dual channel kit. The build won't be for me, but for my brother unfortunatly.

So for starters if I get this correct the 4000+ Sandy has a 12x multiplier?
200x12= 2,4Ghz (default clock). So what would be a simple overclock to start off with?
234 FSB would get me at 2,8Ghz then which means the memory would be running at 468DDR. Can this memory take that? Or do I have to put on a divider?

Also I would have to set the HTT x 4 right? I'm not so familiar with socket 939 yet, and if any of you can give me a simple setting to start off with it would be nice. Most importantly which would be the best BIOS to use...I saw the version 1.8 official BIOS doesn't have a HT lock.

If you have not bought the 4000+ save the cash and get a 3700+
Will the memory run at 234, more than likely, yes and even higher depending on what timing tweeks and how much vcore you up to!
An HT of 4 will allow you to run the CPU HTT up to about 260 safely. Keep the total below 1040 and you will be fine.
As far as the BIOS is concerned, check the POST on the Dual SATA in the BIOS section

Thank you for the info. My brother has picked the 4000+ because it was only 15 bucks more expensive then the 3700+ and I figured u'd get a better stepping plus a 12x multiplier instead of 11x. Now I will go and find out which BIOS the best is.
