hey x2addict I am using AGP and I have messed around with a lot of the different BIOS options but didn't try turning fast write on because I heard it slows down the graphics cards performance, I will try that and let you know if i experience anymore freezing
and the power supply is...ULTRA 500 watt ATX...i bought it before Dual Core CPUs were available, around january 05...i still have the box, it says supports pentium 4 and AMD CPUs...I don't know much about powersupplies, but im gonna type out a few things it says on the box....
Max Output +3.3v, +5v, + 12b
Current 28a, 38a, 25a
max combined 220W, 300W
Wattage 480W
that isn't everything, let me know if you need more info

Xil3,

Check out ur 12v rail- 25amps. That's actually great until you consider how much greater your rig is. Might need a psu with a 12v single rail rating of at least 30A or a Dual rail of 17 to 18A each. 12v rail is very important nowadays cuz your cpu, vcard, hard drives, optical drives, lights, fans get their juice from it. If you have a fellow computer enthusiaste nearby with a more powerful psu (with careful reference to 12v rail Amperage so it could be 460w to 520w), try to test my little hypothesis.

If you don't mind, do you know where to find the HTT multiplier control, reference bus to mem Divider controls from our BIOS? I'm using stock 2.1 version.

great, the only computer i can think of is the one i built for my friend, and that one has a powmax powersupply with bad reviews...came with the case...

I tried AGP fastwrite, it didn't work...How sure are u about the power supply being the problem, seems odd, these freezes are random and well the last 5 times i heard a high pitched beep from the headphones

and i only started overclocking cpus for like 4 days haha, so i don't know about the HTT multiplier and stuff, don't want to mess with that yet, my old mobo didn't support overclock, it had something preventing it...seemed no one knew what the problem was so i never overclocked it...

oh what i meant was it didn't do the trick to fix my problem, not that my system doesn't run with it

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817701003
so would this do? and since its 12/18 and 12/20 is that somehow built for dual core processors?
i don't know how stupid my questions sound but i haven't been keeping up with computer stuff since 04 and things have changed like crazy already...just looking at prices shock me now

Video cards, processors, and motherboards have become more and more power hungry and multiple +12v rails is a method to effectively and effeciently supply power to your system. I hate to be a PSU snob, but you really need to look at PSU's around the $80 mark or above. With PSU's you get what you pay for.

This is the PSU I would buy right now if I needed to FSP Group 550W 4x+12v rail PSU. PSU's with similar voltage and amps should serve you very nicely.

That is really expensive, and are quad 12v rails necessary?
my graphics card is a 6800gt (agp), but im going to buy a X1900XTX, or I will wait until a directx 10 card comes out, the upgrade will be around november or december, but still a single graphics card, i am not going to buy 2...
I also don't know much about SLi and crossfire, but my nvidia drivers tell me that the 6800gt has SLI support, would it be possible for me to hook this up with a pci express 6800 XT? and would it be as good as having a 7900GTX or X1900XTX?
