hey is newegg not letting you RMA?

now i need more help with overclocking on this motherboard, sorry about the noob question....
with my 4200+ how do I make it so the RAM doesn't increase speed along with the CPU...and does it give me a better chance of getting higher CPU core speeds?

I got it. Had to do with me not paying good enough attention on the driver website. There is a driver for sataII on there.

XiL3, you will have to run a divider on your ram, probably 166. That way you don't push your ram too far while you are pushing your fsb.

Not sure, do contact the egg on that and see about either a RMA or replacment from them first.

I have a friend who's going through the same thing, got an asrock from newegg refurbished. By the time he had the parts to finish the rig the refurb warranty period was expired. He is having some serious trouble getting it stable at STOCK. We've tried everything and we think this is the reason it was returned to newegg and that it's subtle enough to have been missed in any quick testing newegg may have done before putting it up for refurb sale. Asrock WILL NOT rma anything, they advise you to RMA through your retailer, they will only accept RMA's from retailer, not end users.

I have this board and X2 3800@2.4 and 1 gb ram and X1600 Pro AGP. I ran prime95 for 10 hours and the Temp never went about 55c(Idle at 35c).

But my question is I am only getting 2900 (somthing) in 3dmark05????

But my games run okay I guess(NFSMW,HL2,CSS,COD2). And ATI Tool says my card is running about 60c. not over clocking it by the way.

Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Doug,
Check if you have installed the latest drivers for both grapx card and proc. Also check if you are using the latest patch for 3dmark05. Still thinking of other ideas.

I am currently running on SATAI but I have a SATAII drive and would like to use it as such.
I have been out of circulation for a while and just caught up on the thread, good to see some new guys here.

BTW, Speed350, I thought the SATAII drive was for external HD's only? Don't quote me on that, but at any rate, if you only have 1 drive, you should only need SATAI. When I was doing my research on this MB, I was originally confused about the promo stating SATAII support. Only to find out it referred to external drive support. So theoretically you could run both an External and internal SATA HD's without loosing any performance or MB support.

I got this board also for 'bang for buck' value. I am really pleased with it also. I have a similar rig to yours Speed, except for the CPU. Have you had any probs. OC'ing the thing? I can't get the CPU multiplier to change on mine, so I am stuck on 2000.

Anyway, good to see you all here.

Cheers

Tolak

Hi Tolak68,
Try raising your reference bus to 218MHz. It should oc your proc to 2.4GHz to make it run like an A64 3800. Should relax the timings on your memory though before you do that. Maybe even give your mem a dose of 2.7V or set voltage to HI. If you really want to make sure, set your memory first to 333 instead of 400.
