I am in the beguinning stages of ocing this system but i noticed that when i changed my v from 1.4 to 1.45 the speed went from 2.2 to 1.9 and when i changed it back and put 200 to 210 it went to 2.31. does the vmod work on this board as well? will post new scores and cpu-z soon.....
Hi there!
Under 2.4GHz of core speed, you may not need to increase your vcore yet. Try increasing your reference bus but at the same time you could try to set your mem at 333MHz so as to give your mem some breathing space just for the start. Once you reach 218MHz. Ref Bus, your core speed should reach 2.4GHz.

Lots of experts and enthusiasts here. Keep asking until the veterans lend you a hand. Hehehe. Just keep watch of your HTT, keep it lower than 1100 when you start to venture over 2.4GHz.

I know this sounds newbish, but this board is new to me and I am not used to the bios terms and the different features from my old asus board + the new ht settings. is there a thread or posting that explanes what these do or what they effect? I just want to get good performance and last night when i ran 3dmark06 i got like 4fps. something is wrong... reset all to default but did not run 3dmark again yet. If someone can just point me to the materials I would be happy to study them myself....Thanks in advance...

Dude,

This is a dual sata2 thread but I see you are using dual vsta. What I write below might not apply to your board.

Important Asrock Dual Sata 2 BIOS Settings:
1) Turn off cool n quiet
2) CPU Interface turned manual (vcore at 1.4 or more, same multiplier)
3) Pull back mem to 333
4) Put HTT to 800, 16bit on both
5) raise reference bus to 218 (see it under cpu interface)
6) enable deep FIFO (your vcard is agp but has a bridge chip)
7) Bring back mem to 400 if you feel it can handle 218/DDR 436MHz raw, set mem voltage to hi to give it 2.7v

These are just some of the settings you can make. At the start of this thread you will find a lot of helpful tips. Now give it a try

Hi Mantice

you are in the right thread, but as you can see by the number of entries, it is quite huge.

Start at the front and read through the thread. There are a number of entries on what you are asking. Addict is quite right, but there are many other variations it seems. I am still learning myself, so I don't profess to being an expert. One thing I did find out is- the more you know, the more confusing it gets.

Anyway, you are in the right place, good luck mate.

Tolak

Thanks x2addict and tolak68, I will read more and also try out x2addict's info. I think part of my original prob was a bad install of my xp corperate. I had reinstalled and now seems to be running more stable. I will Keep up my post on what my results are after I do some more reading. Thanks again.

Dude,

Must have forgotten to set CPU to PCI/AGP bus at ASYNC so that when you raise the reference bus, you dont affect the pci or agp bus to go with it, thus unintentionally overclocking them together with your processor. Watch out for that. I put mine at ASYNC. you can find that in the BIOS under CPU options.

well i wouldnt recomend it its a bit risky , and im shocked i have lost all my rep because i cant spell sory ,i had 180

well anyway u could try a soilder pen they work ok and the best thing would be to just get a solidering iron and a small led or somthing and cut its legs of then solder one side to vid4 and the other to the other side , and leave a bit or the leg sticking up so in future or if it goes wrong u can just cut it and it will go back to normal
