ok guru's...

i see on the official web site they r up to 2.30
i did have 1.90 installed but thought the latest official BIOS would have been improved on...
but as i have discovered 2.30 is not very ood for OC...

in short what is the best BIOS to use for the asrock dual sata2 hen you are OC'ing?
(these days...as its been a while since posting on here guys)

BUT...
Berr in mind i am not running any volt mods...
i am running the standard 1.4v...as not to comfortable at messing around with bit on the motherboard...
---
Also wen UPDATING
Any reason WHY i am unable to update my BIOS using either a CD or floppy..
the only way i can update my bios is using the windows download off the offical asrock web site....

i hit the F11 key...
select floppy...nothing happens...loads up normaly
or
select cd...nothing happens...loads up normaly

and yes...my CD & floppy does work properly 100%...

when creating a boot cd with the bios update,,,is it just a normal data disk you burn OR do you have to make it a special bootable CD...(I have nero 6.6)

Or, for that matter, does the Dual-VSTA need any of the mods listed, or did ASrock do us a favor and do them for us?

when i got my dual sata it had the 2.20 bio's on it and i later flashed to 2.30 bio's both seemed ok for overclocking but then again i usually don't overclock very heavy but on both i was able to get to to 280 fsb with no problem. if you prefer to use a floppy try to download the new bio's on a different pc then install them on your asrock

Hey guys, hope you can help?

I have an Opteron 170 currently running at 253x10 (Async) in the bios = 2550mhz. (Bios v2.1)

I have Crucial 2GB (2x1GB) DDR PC4000 Ballistix Dual Channel Kit
(BL2KIT12864Z503).

Should I be able to go higher than this, do I have the multiplyer set correctly?

I only ask as I seem to have to drop the bus speed to 800 (rather than 1000) to get it stable.

It has been running stable for over 8 months now, but I just wanted to know if I can squeeze some extra juice out of it as it is letting the rest of the system down with the lowest score in Vista performance rating (5.1) - the 2nd lowest is my hd @ 5.4, then ram , graphics are 5.9

Thanks for your help.

Heres some more info.

Hey guys, can anyone help me?

Am I better off switching to the x9 multiplier with the memory I have?

I've rebooted my machine about 100 times now trying all the combinations I can think of. And I'm a bit nervous doing this too many times cos I've had my hard drive crash on me before due to this (IBM Death star)

Thanks

I really got some useful information out of this thread, thanks Enzo! I've moved on to a FX 55 that I picked up dirt cheap so the 3200 is shelved. Now let's see if I can hit that big 3.0! I haven't even started but I hear it's no problem on the san diego.

Ciao

Using the information in this thread, I put a little life into my amd 3000+. From 1.8 to 2.34! 30 per cent increase works for me. At 2.4 and 1.45v the system couldn't pass the prime95 torture test, so I backed it off to 2.35 and 1.3v and it works fine and CPU runs cooler on stock cooling. Thanks!!
