well seeing the cpu u have is alot better :] im saying about 2.8ghz will be max
but see how it goes lol if ure wanting some setting hear

fsb/ht / =230
multi = 11x
htt = 800mhz /16bit for both sb/nb :]
vcore = 1.45v or 1.55v with the mod what ever
ram divider = 166

that will give u a nice 2.5ghz no bother :] also turn of cool and quiet it will kill ure overclock :]

When priming, which is a ridiculous load which will never be equaled by any program you run, a good measure of a PSU is staying with 15% i believe of the original 12v. But try to keep it above 11.5-7.

I saw it wont be equaled because, well it wont. Games wont do what prime does to your system. A more suitable tester for gamers would be OCCT IMO.

Btw this 40$ psu stays at 11.95 under prime. mmmm love sweet deals.

ps. the hyper is sexy.

hate to double post

DO the volt mod using a "Car rear WINDOW defroster kit" from kragen. Put the copper conduct between the right points and then add the clear stuff. It will take 10-15 minutes, but will be worth your effort. I did mine wihtout ever taking my MOBO out of my case, just removed my psu. It worked fine and never had a prob.

I had this board for a while, and i loved it. Ever since i got my opty that does 2.85 on such low volts i've been kicking my own arse wondering why i sold the board. O well.
So quiet

Dear All!

I am TW from Singapore!
I am a newbie at O/C and any help and advice is most appreciated!

I recently assembled a brand new AMD64 3000+ with ASROCK Dual Sata2 MB, based on the rave reviews + This Thread!

Currently, what are the steps I need to do to start O/Cing my system?
Do note the following:
i) my current BIOS that came with my board is ver 1.60 and it seems to show in my bios setup screen that maximum voltage is 1.45v + certain clocks are locked, etc...
ii) I do not have a floppy drive, so I need some help on how to flash or upgrade my bios via CD.

Many thanks to all who contribute to this thread (especially Enzo15) and also ASROCK for making a great board!

All advice most appreciated!

well first of all thanx and welcom to the site :]
to answer your first question about a way to get u overclocking this board i must ask u a c question .
have u read the faqs on how overclock etc ....???
well if u havent here they are
http://www.overclock.net/faqs/12415-...rclocking.html

and if u have then here are some settings that u can try out :]

well first when in the bios u need to change the following

htt/ to = 800mhz /16bit for both the sb and nb
then u need to go into a diffrent menu the one with the fsb/ht and memory timings etc at the tip u can chooses some options of how u want to overclock change it to async :] so the pci thing dosnt get overclocker

then disable cool and quite because it will kill the overclock

know ure multiplyer x9 to kower it just go to manual instead of auto in the bios this will allow u to change it from 9x to 1x if u want :] but keep it at 9x

so 9x and the htt/fsb set it to 220

so ure chip now runs at 1980mhz 1.98ghz

then at the bottom set your memory divider to 166:] so that the memory dosnt effect the overclock

know load the pc up and if u havent download some testing software

prime95 /occt

http://www.short-media.com/download.php?dc=72

and all the other programs u need to download are there basically use occt click on test and it only takes 30min :] if it pases u can up the front side bus by 5mhz :]

if it dosnt then up the vcore to 1.45v :] and just keep going until u reach a ht/fsb of 250 because u then need to lower the htt even lower to 3x so that the to fsb of the machine dosnt get above 1000mhz at the begining it is

5x200= 1000
then yours 4x250 = 1000

changing the htt from 1x to 5x will not make the pc any faster or slower :]

and if u want to flash the bios i would say back to the orignal but if ure just wanting to overclock etc i would give the oc beta 1 a try it does somtimes freeze and when on the interent it dosnt like some types od video and will restart your pc lol but if u dont use the intrent and its a gaming pc try it as u can c on the thread i got my ht/fsb all the way up to 313 but to start use bios 1.2 if all elese fails and how to make a cd boot disk here u go :} sry for stealing this from u

1. Unzip file.
2. Burn it onto a blank CD using Nero, or Roxio etc. cd-rw disc preferred.
3. Stick it in your cd drive and reboot your computer.
4. Press F11 on post screen to select your cd drive.
the flashing process.
5.Since this is on a cd, and your bios and flasher are on a "virtual drive"(lettered "R") within the cd, we have to first access that section as in basic DOS intruction.
7. in that case, type T:\\\\R:\\\\ now you are accessing your files, you should get this... R:\\\\ Good, now its just like a floppy(and loads 10x quicker too!)
8. Type R:\\\\ASRFLASH OCWB1.BIN
hit enter...
9. wait a couple seconds......
10. Now it should flash and then reboot.
Make sure you hit f2 to load default settings first so theres no conflicts..
then just load into windows, see everything alright.. then reboot and PLAY!

and there u are if u have any specific uestions ask them im happy to help :]

Hi Enzo!

Thanks for the detailed reply!

I followed what you typed for 'flashing my bios thru' CD but failed in 2 separate attempts.
i) Used Nero 6.0 > burn data disk > Upon booting to CD drive > there was a blank screen for a few seconds before the following msg appeared: Reboot and select proper boot device. > Upon typing any key, it went straight to Windows

ii) Used Nero 6.0 > burn as Bootable Disk > it prompted for 'source of boot image data > I had to select 'image file: from c:/program files/Nero/' as the 1st option: 'bootable logical drive : A:\\unknown size' would not work. > Upon booting to CD drive > it started with 'A: prompt', I tried typing 'ASRFLASH 939dn21.20' but this did not exist in the location > Hence I had to type 'CD F:' > Upon typing 'ASRFLASH 939dn21.20', it had the following message: DOS/4G Protected Mode Run-time, then there was a cursor blinking in the bottom > Had to press Reset button to get out > Nope, the Bios was not Flashed.

*Help!* Any ideas? Thanks a million!
