Windows 98/ME support with Intel chipset

Thread Starter
I have noticed that some MSI and Gigabyte mobo with Intel's chipset doesn't support Windows98/ME :

http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p...Neo-F&class=mb

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/...8I955X%20Royal

'This model DOES NOT support Win9X / ME due to some chipset vendors has stopped providing Win9X / ME drivers.'

I need to install Windows ME before upgrading to XP. If I buy either of those mobo does that mean that I won't be able to install Windows ME at all ? Or is it only a driver issue ?

Thanks for your help.

Help would only come in the form of buying the full version of Windows XP, no way around it.

If I were you, I'd sell the full verion of Windows ME and Upgrade version of Win XP on eBay and buy the full version. End of problem.

If you're going for a 945P, consider an ASUS board, MSI is pretty much junk and Gigabyte is decent but between those two choices, I'd definitely pick up the GIGABYTE. But the best 955X MoBo is the ASUS P5WD2-Premium.
