Actually you are wrong, very wrong and no I aint a little fanboy I spent days deciding on which way to go between Nvidia SLI and ATI crossfire, I chose Nvidia because they are the better of the 2, I am a core gamer I dont care who makes the components just how much better they will make my gaming experience so please keep comments to yourself.........

Anyway back to the you being wrong part, One of the major differences between SLI & crossfire is SLI is software dependant, if support isn't built into the game/software then SLI doesn't work but as mentioned previously most current and new games support SLI where on the other hand crossfire uses hardware to run and is always activated. bridging from this is another major diference, crossfire sups resources because it is always on and running max even while sitting on desktop where SLI isn't because it is configured to be used when required and because it runs through software resource usage is minimal. How about that SLI can be ran across crossfire boards but crossfire cant run on SLI? Performance, stability and requirement differences......... I would continue but I cant be bothered think I have made my point

I will accept an apology in the form of Sorry, Dude I was Wrong, Soz Mate or the most popular I learn something new everyday!

new RD580 chipset is getting great reviews.

Quote:
HardOCP has beaten on ATI mercilessly for a while now, and it looks as if those days are over…at least on the chipset side of things. ATI and their engineers deserve some big kudos today for putting their money where there mouth is by correcting the errors of the past. The CrossFire Xpress 3200 is a true enthusiast’s chipset.

but still the sli might have stability advantages and be less stress and stuff but if youre in it for plain FPS and Benchies, A X1900 crossfire master and a X1900XTX WILL perform much better. even in some games the performance is more than double than with one card. If youre so hardcore gamer then why did you choose the one that performs worse?

My post about the ability to run sli on a non-sli board with the right chipset (yours included).

I've had sli for a year and a half and was on the bandwagon since the beginning. If you read reputable sites like Tom's, HardOcp and Anandtech, they have shown that SLI is a stable, mature technology that continues to improve. ATI, on the other hand has finally got crossfire working (The refererence to the new RD580 chipset above is valid, its supposed to be excellent). But if you read through the various reviews, they constantly go back to crossfire being new technology. It might as of today edge verys lightly in some categories over SLI but its still so new that there are bound to be issues. I don't have time to get wait to get the bugs ironed out. I'm busy enough in life that sitting down and using my pc should be seamless. Will ATI get there? Absolutely, but give them a year or so to stabilize the technology.

Go Nvidia today, on your next upgrade, evaluate your options
