Im sure ive just seen some ppl post to get a Socket 940 Opteron witha socket 939 board like the A8N-SLI... If this is like i think and doesnt work then we need to b careful in future so that we dont accidentally mislead ppl

I've heard those are only in limited availability. Get something more standard like a regular 7800GTX that will for sure be around in a year or so. I'm pretty sure it will serve you better to have 2 very similar cards in an SLI system. Just my opinion though, never done SLI before.

I think I have a fairly good system.. solid and will last. Only thing you might want to edit is the fine tuned parts, I specifically wanted the G7 wireless mouse, some think it's a waste, I love my G5 why not have it in wireless? The monitor is a bite in the butt. I bought all of this stuff for $1902 today

If your not building immediately, yes, wait another month and the 7900 series video cards will be out by then. I'm assuming they'll be about 15% faster than the current 7800 series. Better yet, when the 7900's come out, we should see a price drop on the 7800's. More product for less money should make us all smile.

i wouldent spend my money till febuary 07 when next gen come out. but if you do buy now, DO NOT PUT A SOCKET 940 PROC ON A 939 MOBO. if you even manage to socket it will fry when you try to turn it on. and dont waste your cash on a thousand dolar proc either. get an opteron 165 and a dfi lanparty ultra d sli. throw in 2gigs of lowly timed ddr500 memory, a 7900GTX a wd rapter, a large storage drive and a big psu. if want a fast disk drive the the plextor sata 2 drive. case dosnt mater but from personal experiance, dont cheap out to much and dont get an aspire case. get somthing all aluminum including front panel. also if you want to keep it quiet, get a case with all 120mm fans such as the gigabyte 3d aurora. (i buy mine in a couple weeks) and get a decent heatsink or water cool. oh and one more think, dont waste your time going sli right now. the 7900gtx will run everything just fine and your going to start bottlenecking your proc and you wont get the fps youd expect. the idea of sli is buy a nice card now and then when that card is $50 buy another one and be all caught up. that what Scalable means.
