Magazine Article, 3.46 ghz to 5.04 ghz

I was reading this article out of Maximum PC and they oced an Intel Pentium EE from 3.46 to 5.04 with a phase change device. Now I am wondering, phase changing devices probably cost alot, due to the price of the one used in the magizine was 900 dollars.Anyway,Should I invest in a phase change device for oc like a mofo? The reason being the loads temps with the pentium EE with the phase change was absolute zero, and the idle temos were negative 40.Now this sound like an investment, should I go for it or is there a cheaper alternative?

I wouldn't characterized Josh Norem and Gordon Mah Ung as highly knowledgeable in the art of overclocking.

And for God's sake those idiots use an nForce 4 P.O.S. motherboard from the begining.

Most 65nm can easily do 1.8ghz overclock on water and 2.2-to-2.4ghz on phase, IMO, that's why the magzine it's not called Maximum Overclocking, just PC.

If you were to put Fugger or Crotale as the main overclocking editors for the mag, you'd bee seeing 6.0ghz for a 955EE chip, as they both have taken the chip to that speed.

I just red their article on the Swiftech H20 kit and it's ridiculous how they go onto saying that 235fsb is the highest speed ever achive on their Zero-Point platform. Yet, I'm doing 240fsb on pure air. I like the magazine and all but I hate the overclocking part and also the "Rig of the Month" part, hate 'em.

btw, just so you know, there is a HUGE diff. btwn ABSOLUTE ZERO and
0 degrees C. ABS zero is 0 K, which is -273.15 C

I figured I should point out that a processor can't reach "absolute zero". Not sure if that was a typo or something. Liquid hydrogen is only 20 degrees Kelvin (-252C). I think the coldest done in labs was like .2K. I can't imagine a processor getting lower than that. .

And don't read MaximumPC, pick up a copy of CustomPC. It's more expensive, but has tons of content and the quality is superb.

It was from the magaizine,I know absolute zero couldn't be achieved, just 0.Absolute zero would mean that matter doesnt move.No atoms electrons nuetrons all the crap wouldnt budge, therefore hulting your system no matter what.It can never be achieved,I dont think it will ever be possible to achieve
