I changed all my settings to those suggested and it would not boot, got long beeps. Had to clear cmos and reload cmos back to current state. Basically those timings do not work.

VID is 1.55
VID SPecial is auto

what memory do you have? I find it hard to believe it wouldnt work at 2.5-3-3-7...probably shouldve raised ram voltage to 2.8...

VID should be 1.350 and vid special should be 113%

Never leave the Vid special on auto. This can can fry your mobo/cpu by accident.

If you want 1.5+ v.core use 1.4 Vid and 110% V. Special

It's also very important to keep your Temps under 50c at load. (it will shut it's self down in most cases)

Yeah...110% works just as well, but for a 3500+ I dont think he needs that much voltage with stock cooling...so maybe 1.350 VID and 110% VID special...

It doesn't do any harm to have the Special % on auto or set it manually. It's designed to give more exact control of the voltage, that's all. There was a problem with the Expert frying CPUs because of this, but as far as I'm aware this doesn't extend to the rest of the nF4 range.

Seeing that u have a kingston ram, refer to dfi-streets ram guide, cound not remember if its kingston or corsair that doesnt work well with dfi nf4 mobos.. and seeing that u have vapochill u could be having cold boot issues, and oh yeah welcome to OC.net

Talk to me, not about me please.

Gonna go change cpu vid and special now. if reboot successfully I will play with timings again

EDIT: Ok i booted with cpu cid at 1.35 and vid special at 110%. I've booted successfully as I'm sat here typing this. Idle temp is 31/32 deg cel. not benchmarked yet. Smart guardian reports cpu voltage as 1.43v.

So I've got to here but i did drop my fsb slightly so my overall clock is now 2.57ghz.

Which and how many settings should I now play with?

Thanks for all the advice thus far, my learning curve has been greatly assisted.

Ok I checked here http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/show...=ram+guide+nf4 and it appears kingston is NOT recommended.

This is a bummer but at least I now know what might be bottlenecking me. HOWEVER, not recommended does not mean DO NOT EVER USE so given the info I have relayed is it my ram thats maxed out or can I tweak yet further?

Further to this, I am on a budget but understand the importance of decent ram. Prev I have ran corsair but also this is not recommended for dfi boards. Therefore what is the communities recommendations for non kingston/corsair performance ram thats relatively inexpensive (emphasis on RELATIVELY inexpensive) that will perform well with my current set up.

A big thank you again for helping me with the A64 o/c, be sure I will share this knowledge when possible.
