hello people i have had a look round your forums b4 posting this but i really need more help. i have just ordered a new system that will be comming this week. now i have my current cpu overclocked but only using the Multiplyer.

here is my new system

Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe
CRUCIAL 2GB DDR PC3200 400MHz 184-PIN UNBUFF
XFX GeForce 7800GTX 512mb
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400

now i want to overclock my cpu i have seen that i could get it up to about 2.6 using the stock fans etc.

is there a good guide that will show me how to do this.

thanks in advance guys any help would be fantastic

See my sig for the FAQs
This one should help some ...
http://www.overclock.net/faqs/38169-...roduction.html

On the OC...
For starters up the RAM's vcore to 2.9v it can handle it
You will need to get firmiliar with your BIOS.
Watch your full load CPU temp and keep @ or below 50°c
Set your Memory multiplyer to 4x for up to a 250MHZ HTT drop to 3x for above 250
THe CPU sill also require a bit more voltage, up it about 0.1v to start.

In that link are some great links for utilities like memtest and there is a quicker test method for preliminary testing. Get CPU-Z, Prime95 and OCCT.

1 last thing i noticed a section where members had given details of there overclocked rigs, couldnt i just find someone who had overclocked an 4400 and input there values in the bios.

there was one guy who had a similar setup.

OH... as you get in the higher HTT ranges you may have to set the RAM to 333 or adjust the RAM's timings. Probably only changing CAS2 to CAS2.5 for about 250MHz @ 2.9... CAS2.5-3-3-6 @ 2.9v should hit as high a 270MHz

Hey welcome to the forums.

If I were you though I'd change your thread title from "spastics" to something else. Like "beginner". As spastics might offend someone.
