What are you using for the white background? Camera? Lighting?
Bro I cant tell you how sweet those words are lol, Ive done tons of reading on how to take pictures and put in some hours on a light box setup. Its good to hear someone like them lol.
I used white posterboard and white stiff posterboard for the background and light diffusion. I bought 3500k lights, there is a source on top and a source that I can mount anywhere.
My camera is a lowly sony dsc-h50. It doesnt like macro all that much, but it could be the user that doesnt like macro as well. I still have a ton to learn about photos, but I intend on making them more pleasing to the eye for the mod.

I wonder with it being empty and plastic like that... will it rattle and make noise?
It is alot of empty space, I had thought about front mounting it, but i dont know that I will like the led blue showing through. but that can always be fixed. Placement is very much still in the air at the moment.
Even though it is plastic it is very sturdy, and it fits very snugly into the 3.5 bay. So I dont think it will rattle, I can always add some fluff in there to padd it up as well.
