Hey there people, just wondered what your views where on the Zalman reserator watercooling system, are they worth the money, and how much do they cool? well to put it bluntly, ocing my machine means watercooling is best option, but what is the best way to do this, shall i buy a kit and use that or shall i buy a kit and add new stuff.
Any info would be appreciated

The reserator is good for cooling and quieting a relatively stock system.

If you want peak performance out of a water system, I'd buy a custom kit or piece a kit together with appropriate parts.

You could probably build a kit that works better, might be slightly louder, and will cost about the same or less than the reserator.

It is good, but do you want a 1 and a half foot tower taking up valuable room on your desk? That is the only flaw, cools decent.

hmm, not too bothered about the desk cos the machine will be on the floor anyways next to the desk, could yopu sugest a selction or watercooling products that could be matched together to get a good cooling system that would be capable over cooling an overclocked system very well,i am willing to spend more if i am gauranteed to get a v good one.

I dont; think it really cools that well, but if you are all for silence and a big thing in your office...go for it. I wouldn;t do it myself, because i move my compy around too much to LANs and such. When I build my silent HTPC, i may get one, or i'll just underclock a pentium M and passively cool it.

I agree with what's been said.

As I understand it:

Pros:
  • quiet
  • easy install
  • phallic

Cons:
  • merely adequate performance--good for stock speeds, but no more
  • pump problems, which may be fixed now
  • phallic

So if silence and easy install are paramount, it's an okay choice, but you can do better IMO.

Hope this helps.

You could get that and a better heat block. And get a heat block with plenty of sharp edges, because heat likes to go out faster at edges. Then depending on the material of the heat block, you can dremel some of your own edges into flat areas for maximum heat dissapation at the CPU. You can use Red Line Water Wetter or Zerex somehing to give your water a boost at heat dissapation. And don't forget to add spa sanitizer to keep mold out of the equation.
