Need help overclocking.

Thread Starter
First post. I'm overclocking a intel 920 d with 1 gb pqi turbo. The problem is im not sure how to set the memory timings or anything like that. I have the front side bus at 235 and the processor is nice and cool at 23c idle 33c load. I've ran the prime 95 torture test and everything runs fine expect the blend test. I know the blend test is ram heavy now i want to know what i can do to stabilize my ram. The stock timings are 5-5-5-15. Thats how i have it.
The prime test says "fatal error: rounding was .05 expected less then 0.4." can someone please help. Any help would be appreicated.

Try tightening(lowering) the ram timings a little bit. I gained performance by doing that on my p4 2.8 @ 3.1.

you need to LOOSEN them(higher numbers) not tighten them.... they cant handle the higher speeds that your trying to push out of them when OCing, so loosen the timings and maybe up the voltage 1 notch...

Thx for the help guys. Now i need to know how to setup a memory divider. I've looked everwhere in the bios. Is the System memory multiplier what i need to change.

Ok, seriously.........

edit the little "off topic" guy looks mad, I'm not mad, just wanted to note this is off topic LOL

Do you know your ambient tempeture? Basically, the temp of your room with the computer?

You're using the stock heatsink and fan and have temps that rival water cooling........with the stock cooler mine was running 55c/73c, and even with the Zalman 9500 my temps are 45c/58c. My house is usually around 22-24c ambient.

This is just weird.......

Back ON topic....

to set a divider (or to set 1:1) you simply go into your BIOS and set the frequency of the RAM manually. To run 1:1 you just set it to run at the same speed as the FSB. NOte, that memory speeds are doubled. So if you run your CPU at 250FSB, for a 1:1 you would want your memory to be at 500Mhz speed.

I'd see how stable you are at 1:1 first (I got my 920 up to 3.92 stable at 1:1 at stock voltages all around).....

OK I have a question (not trying to hijack) I think may help
Quote:

when getting this error during prime why do yo think its ram related?
I've been getting this same error for 1 week now when I go above 4.2.
@4.35 I can run memtest x2 for hours and not get an error but as soon as I run prime(20 min) I get this or other error.
So is memtest not catching something or is this error code just vague?
