3rd Party Conroe Benchmarks... Mainstream Conroe Smokes OCed FX60 - Page 2

Heres something.. How the heck does a processor affect gaming THAT much? I doubt these results for some reason... No other processor has had "this much" of a lead in gaming over any other one, because processor doesnt do that much to the fps unless you have a really slow proc and fast graphics card.

Well, there were the MP3 encoding benchmarks. You do have a point though. They said the Intel system was running 2x x1900xts, but they didnt say what was in the AMD box, unless I misread it.

As far as we could tell, there was nothing fishy going on with the benchmarks or the install. Both systems were clean and used the latest versions of all of the drivers (the ATI graphics driver was modified to recognize the Conroe CPU but that driver was loaded on both AMD and Intel systems).
Accually, you would be surprised to hear that a lot of GPUs are bottlenecked by the processors.

Both system were identical save for the processor, memory, and motherboard. Anandtech reports that the drivers were all the same, ect. Also Anandtech said the AMD gear was top of the line.

Umm I hope you're kidding. You forget that the bottleneck on those cards is huge and getting a processor this good will reduce it, causing a jump in performance.

Both setups contained CF x1900xt. 1gig of DDR400 2-2-2 for AMD and 1gig of DDR2-667 4-4-4 for INTEL.
