Who says the days of the 1GHz overclock are gone? Presler 920s are hitting 4.2-4.5GHz on air and 5.2GHz on water cooling! And they're only 2.8 at stock!!
EDIT/// SpookedJunglist, Intel's memory controller is all off chip (on the motherboard) so theres nothing to say that a Conroe or even Presler or Cedar Mill cant support DDR3, its up to the motherboard to support it. the 1 advantage to the off chip memory controller is as soon as someone makes an LGA775 motherboard that supports DDR3 or even DDR4 or RDRAM or whatever, pretty much all Intel CPUs that are LGA775 will be able to support it. So the question by Omri should have been "Will the 975x support DDR3?" and the answer to that is, no, not yet at least. All it would really take is a slight redesign of the north bridge and obviously new motherboards with the correct RAM slots.
EDIT//// I should probably say that Im a huge Intel fanboy so be sure to look at everything I say with that in mind lol, though I try to be as objective as possible when comparing Conroe/Merom/Woodcrest to Windsor/Orleans, but you have to remember, Windsor and Orleans are ONLY revisions to current San Diego and Toledo cores, they are NOT AMDs answer to Conroe/Merom and Woodcrest!! So of course Conroe will rape an FX60 and even the FX62 since it will still technically be 1 generation ahead, its like comparing a P4 Cedar Mill to an AMD Athlon XP.
