3rd Party Conroe Benchmarks... Mainstream Conroe Smokes OCed FX60 - Page 7

Sorry AMD fanboys but AMD just got pwned Conroe is at 2.66GHz and its beats an FX60 at 2.8GHz. Thats much better than I ever expected. It looks like Intel has finally woken up and showed just how lame netburst really is. I really hope they get it out soon.

I think that its b.S. that ppl have to upgrade and drop thousands of dollars to "stay in the game"...literally....i feel like i have to spend money to play games....well i guess it depends on what games you play...but if it takes another $500 dollars to play a $40 game, then the industry is exploiting my time/money. screw conroe, it'll only give 120 fps istead of 100, id rather get a 360 or ps3. Computers are so versatile that hardware buying becomes a greater significance than the "computer experience" and people waste time "pimping their rig"

All the AMD fanboys were telling us to wait for benchmarks on the Conroe... Now that we have the benchies, they are saying they are not legit, or we have to wait for AM2.... Intel guys didn't claim you have to wait for Conroe to compare to FX60.... And becides... this is OCed FX60 against mainstream stock Conroe....

Buy Xbox360 and you are stuck.... No upgrades, what you get is what you get.

true..but sometimes thats better because hardware buying becomes an addiction. People spend more time looking at things that will make their game experience smoother and better looking that they forget to enjoy the game. Some people feel like it is an obligation to get caught up in the marketing hype and buy 2 gigs of ram, new vid card, since this new game came out i need more ram, oh wait..new cpu's...gotta get it to get full game experience, crap more ram i need, etc. All im saying, that after a while it is very overwhelming

Yeah the conroe benchmarks are BEAUTIFUL in terms of performance. But lets NOT forget this is a NEW generation processor. Not a CURRENT generation processor. The funny part is AMD is capable of releasing its newer technology today, but as stated on Anandtech, they decided to wait for the release of DDR2 800 around June. Ill give intel props though, this proc looks nice. But id rather wait till June to decide on where to drop some cash.

You must have missed a few posts in your haste to dribble over Conroe...

I would hope that a newer 65nm core with DDR2 would beat out a 90nm Core with DDR

There's no reason to compare old technology to new technology becasue it's a simple fact it will win

but for a $450 chip that's incredible

Fair play to Intel, they seem to have made a damn good CPU for this coming round of the ongoing fight, but please, don't start saying AMD is dead in the water until you have a fair fight between two cores on the same generation

AM2 will not offer any real advances in performance, the CPUs are still K8. AMD said that after AM2 is released they will start giving more details on their next core revision. That is the time for the fight to start all over again.

Well done Intel, Conroe looks extremely good. I hope it drives the tech world onto bigger and better things, its all good for the end user. Personally, I'm sticking with AMD because I am content with what I have right now (plus I don't want to have change out my motherboard ). Next year, who knows?

When AMD moves to a new architecture it will be news. This however, is not that news.

Intel has had the Netburst architecture Pentium 4 since the initial release in November 2000.

The Athlon made its debut on June 23, 1999. Now the Athlon is the original release and the Athlon64 has been a refresh (one of many) of that architecture. Considering the ability and technology of the original Athlon and the modern day Athlon64 one must congratulate AMD in keeping it refreshed and increasing in abilities. They are certainly a mature and healthy processor and one when compared with the Netburst architecture has proven its point. AMD certainly belongs in the fray.

That being said, Intel's processor P4 is no match and Intel has had new processors on the table for a few years now. Multi-core with emphasis on instructions per watt in parallel has been on the drawing table and the result is soon to be seen.

AMD is also along the move with new architectures on the table. What will be interesting is to see how long it takes AMD to make the move. How long will Intel be on top? How long has AMD been on top?

Interesting times and we are the winners as prices drop inversely to performance increases.

Only Jori said the benchmarks aren't legitimate

I am not a fanboy, but I really would like to see the benchmarks when the chip is released. Alot of things are somewhat inflated.... I want to see for myself. If these are good benchmarks, props to intel!

I am begginning to hate AMD fanboism even more.... A bunch of OLD AMD chips....... I laugh at you...........Conroe is NOT new tech.... Its simply Intel's learning from the past. They used the old Dothan architecture as its base......Dothan is also based on the PIII. So its really old tech vs older more redifine tech.
