Hello,

My friend just owned his computer. He has a 3.06ghz HT processor, 6800GS, 2x512 Geil memory modules.

I thought it was his PSU, but I was mistaken. It's not. The thing I am asking you guys is what I should do. He had a shuttle psu / case (not shuttle brand, just micro stuff).

I know nothing about the new intel stuff. What case/mobo/psu would you guys suggest for his setup?

Thanks!

This processor is a socket 478 and I would use an ASUS P4P800 SE/E-Deluxe. If you intend on overclocking it I would get a decent 450Watt PSU from Fortron/Enermax/Antec etc. The case would be one that has decent airflow with a couple of 120mm fans (on at the bottom front and one at the back.

Good luck,

R

I would recommend an ASPIRE power supply (which is what I got)
Its got 500Watts and 34A, which I believe should be plenty of power for his rig.

If your friend is looking to save some money I think he should get a Chaintech Zenith VE V915P mobo (again what I have). This board is actually really nice- specially since an "economy" mobo. Its bios is okay, and its selection of CPU voltages is really nice. Down side, if your friend is looking for and SLi setup, this isn't for board for him because it's only got 1 PCI-E x16 slot in it, it also doesn't have RAID.

And as for the case I think your guess is as good as mine.....

Hope this helps you

The card is AGP.. what mobo-agp combatible.. would be good for this setup? The memory modules read:

GEIL 512MB PC3200 DDR400 CL=2.5-6-3-3 GE5123200

The video card is an AGP eVGA 6800GS

The processor says Intel 81, Pentium 4, .06GHZ/512/53/SL655 PHILIPINES/7307A512-0312

Still reccomend the same stuff?

how is this mobo? Also.. I chose the Antec Lanboy as the case. What PSU should I grab and should I get the Big Typhoon as the cooler?

Well, if your friend wants a good PSU, I would still recommend my PSU, even though it would be a bit over kill for an AGP card. But if your friend ever want to upgrade to PCI-E he would be able to keep that PSU.

Well, because I have never used an AGP card, I can't really suggest a mobo with a AGP slot......Sorry

You should get the thermaltake big typhoon....I overclock my 3.06 P4 all the way to 3.55GHz with a big typhoon and arctic silver 5.

Yep, thats the PSU as for fitting in the Lanboy, the PSU is 6 3/4" long and about 7" wide (I measured my PSU for the measurements). So I would assume that the PSU should fit in that case.

If don't have any, you probally should get some thermal compound as the Big Typhoon doesn't come with any...You can get some Arctic Silver 5 at newegg for like 6 bucks minus the cost of shipping it
