Conroe Beats FX-60!!!! - Page 4

Manchester/Toledo (AMD dual core) cores were released August 1, 2005. So you're bragging that it got beaten by something that will be released about a year later, if not later than that. I agree with namrac.

So with $1500 in budget...should I save it til Conroe comes out? That's a pretty long time and that means...I'm going to spend it all by then...

Seriously though, I have have a 3700+ and a 6600gt and it runs just about any game pretty damn well. FEAR, UT, CS:S. That sort of stuff is just overkill. Give me something practical and functional, not excessive.
Hey, it is pretty momentous when a newer intel chip usually still gets it butt handed to it by the in stores amd...I must say, Conroe looks like the first big step Intel has taken in a *long* time. I don't really know if amd has anything up their sleeve. Hrm.

Lets also add into the mix that the Conroe also uses DDR2, which INtel has ahad about a year to play with te architechture of, and presumibly utalize it efficiently.

By the time Conroe come out, we will probably be in the second generation of AM2 boards, and they will be toe to toe again.

If intel spent half the money on development as they did on hype, AMD would have been absorbed years ago.

It was at a tradeshow on Intel's setup. They weren't allowed to take the chips home or use on their own equipment. They were allowed to run whatever was in the machines and only run tests setup by Intel.
