Build the best pc possible for $500

Thread Starter
I'm not sure if this is the right section but here goes. My uncle wants me to build him a new pc for $500. Can the people of overclock.net choose the parts for me? I'm don't have that much knowledge with intel builds.(His preference is intel btw)
I don't think he'll use it for games....at all. Just basic uses such as emails and he'll probably want to use it for youtube as well.

Thank you!

I think you might be able to fit an i3 maybe even an i5 in that budget but I think going with AMD (which you are more familiar with) and getting an Athlon II build would be your best bang for your buck.

I strongly suggest you looking in our For Sale section at used systems. This is an enthusiasts website and members swap equipment out much faster than the general population. What that means to you is very good deals. Just an example of a system you couldn't touch brand new on that budget....

I tried to persuade him into just getting an amd build but he thinks they're not as reliable as intel. I told him that amd would perform better for the price but he kept saying no.

EDIT: To sccr64472, that's a phenomenal deal but sadly my uncle wants everything to be new.

Respectfully refer him to this website and I'd be happy to educate him. If AMD were any less reliable than Intel, their systems wouldn't be a bargain at any price. Thankfully, what he believes is simply untrue and can be tested easily with a number of stability programs.

What I thought of.
BTW this PSU doesn't come with a wall outlet power cord, so you have to use the old one.
