I guess Kilo is right, there are more wine and beer guzzlers here than I had imagined, hehe.
The Barrel just keeps on piling in votes and I would imagine would take the "mod of the year" honors if there was one here, and will inspire a bunch to take another look at their future projects, and maybe a treasure hunt through their attics, basements, garages, etc.
Great to see that "quaint" hardware done to tradition in innovative wire management, sleeving and component location and finish, is given a wink of approval and is in no way chastising the voting preferences toward it. I guess it goes to show that hot and expensive hardware is not a prerequisite to coming out ahead which is to me quite astounding.
I am also glad that Iwok88, being a relative noob to modding and to OCN (and a gamer to boot!), has shown what a vivid imagination, a lot of hard work and a judicious use of tools (some I wish I had) can do for a relatively ordinary old wooden barrel.
Getting my butt licked by him? Well, I can't say that I mind because his took this forum by storm and caught a lot of guys fancy and imagination. I just can't figure who these guys are:
-Definitely not hot hardware and WCing favorers.
-Definitely not the heady overclockers.
-Definitely not case mod proponents.
-Definitely not those of the new cnc and laser cutting school of thought.
-Definitely not the scratch modding bunch that heavily favor acrylics. Remember that Iwok's mod is an OBJECT mod, not a scratch mod like Jacob's and mine in this category.
-Definitely not the huge gamer crowd (come on, what can you play with a solo-core P4?)
The only thing that I can surmise is that these are just the "average Joes and Janes" that have average hardware, average mods, average incomes, average tastes, and are average members--the quiet majority I guess would be the best term I can come up with, absolutely normal for ANY forum in the world, inspite of having membership from all over the world (kudos for that!).
And it is not a country phenomenon, who has heard of mods from Mexico anyways (right Rado, repo and Caraboose?) before. Burritos, tacos, tequila, mariachis, sarapes, charro sombreros yes, but.....mods???

This is more expected from countries like Brazil (Oli thinks we are Brazilian, hehe), Chile and Argentina. And sorry, it is not proper forum etiquette to give other forum addresses unless authorized and we have not, and are not yet OCN affiliates (I don't think we have the minimum requirements).
Ah, and take into account the language barrier. I told Iwok to polish up on his English (just waved me off) so he wouldn't give wonky answers, well.....sigh...
So, I am still confused and of course any comments and opinions are most welcome! Do take into account that these are just my observations.
Cheers and Saludos
