Celeron 2.8 OC to 3.5

Thread Starter
i've got a hp pavilion a1100y with i845GV mobo and presscott 2.8 celeron. can the fsb be oc'ed if i install a different bios if not, are the oc programs safe to use(will it f up my computer?)
if above are no gos
would it be more cost efficient to buy a better mobo, or mobo/cpu package from tigerdirect.com.
and if i got a new mobo e.c.t. how hard is it to put a bios and drivers on it, do i need to back up the hd?

It is best to buy a new motherboard, you wont do much with your branded system.

None of those boards are real good boards for overclocking, however I happen to have the Biostar P4M80-M4 with the Celeron D 335 2.8 CPU, and have eaily overclocked it to 3.5ghz. But the max FSB you can get out of the biostar is 165 for the 533mhz CPU's. It is a very stable board, and Im sure you could get a better overclock out of it with the software utility that comes with it. The biostar is a good board overall but have you ever heard the saying "you get what you pay for"

Also please fill out your system spec, as this makes it easier for others to help you.

Once again PLEASE fill out your SYSTEM SPECS. You can do this by clicking here

As for those boards, I would not buy any of those, buy a new board. Those boards have been fried in the past and then repaired.
Anyways if your budget is only $50 then the Biostar is probably your best option as its only $44+ shipping brand new retail.
