[Ubuntu] Resolution maximum?

Thread Starter
I just finished hooking up everything in my computer and figured I might test it around with Ubuntu before installing windows on it, so I popped out my Ubuntu 9.10 CD and booted up to it, but it gives me a resolution of 1280 x 1024 which doesn't fill out my 24" 1920 x 1080 screen :/ Is 1280 x 1024 the maximum Ubuntu can go, or am I missing something? In the display screen it says "Monitor: Unknown" which is even odder, detect monitors button doesn't do anything, refresh rate is put at 0 hz for some reason and can't be change to anything else. In the resolution box, 1280 x 1024 is the max, but it also contains lower resolution.
Can anyone clarify this? Thanks for your help!

It'll do 1080P, it sounds like you haven't gotten to installing your video drivers yet.
