Hi and welcome to the forums Rompestomper,

Can you download CPU-Z from:

http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

Run the program and tell us what the Code Name is as well as the stepping and revision. This will help to focus on the overclock of the processor.

That ram has a default SPD (Serial Presence Detect) of 200 MHz @ 2.5-3-3-7 so we will need to put it on a divider probably to make the overclock stable.

That video card is a: Geforce 6600GT with the specs:

PowerPack Ultra/1780 TV-DVI
Memory Specs: 256MB / 128Bit
Engine/Mem Clock: 300 / 500

First things though. We need to know the above.

You have a:

Field Value
CPU Properties
CPU Type Intel Pentium 4
CPU Alias Northwood, A80532
CPU Stepping C1
Engineering Sample No
CPUID CPU Name Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 2.00GHz
CPUID Revision 00000F27h

So chances are you could get it up to 2.4 easily--maybe 2.8 with extreme cooling. I would not overvolt this CPU if you are hoping to do your friend a favor and not fry his Northy...

If you read the bottom of the thread I linked you will see what setting s the OC er used to get 2700 from that 2000 ghx processor--rsults will vary according to board and RAM etc...Good Luck!

With this processor you should be able to make ~ 2.6 - 3.0GHz.

Your motherboard Manual:

http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/...ies=1&model=80

Enter your "SoftMenu Setup"

Set your CPU Operating Speed to 2200 (110)
Set your "Fixed AGP/PCI Frequency to 66.6/33.3
Set your "N/B Strap CPU" to PSB400

Test for stability. If stable increase your fsb a couple of increments and retest. When instability occurs then you can raise the "CPU Core Voltage" incrementally. You want the highest fsb and the lowest voltage that gives you a stable system.

Once you have that you can then move to the tweaking of your memory and command rate timing.
