Thread Starter
ok. let me start off by saying im a total AMD noob.
im about to build a budget skt 754 system and i dont understand anything about psu's and the 24/20 pin stuff. i was wondering if something like this case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811190057

was compatible with one of those great biostar 6100 motherboards like this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138264

ill be putting a cheap sempron 3000 or 3100 in there
cant complain..

yes that motherboard will fit that case, basicly if the motherboard is a "mirco atx" and your case has "mirco atx" in the name, then there compatable, but just one thing, you probley know this already but the biostar board above is socket 939 not 754,just thought i mention it to be on the save side, hope this helps you

as for the 20/24pin issue the motherboard most like will be 20pin (i think mirco atx boards are?) but most psu's now days have a 20pin connector with a 4pin one aswell so just be sure the psu you use has a 20pin+4pin and it'll be fine..

nope but thanks anyway. im ordering another one, someone in another post copy and pasted the serial number on the psu and found it and it was 20 pin. this is a micro atx board that has some extra features like the onboard 6100 graphics so it needs the power

You are going to require a 24pin ATX PSU for that motherboard.

cheers

Yeah, so the PSU in that case is probabally only 20 pin (I'm assuming that because of it's extreme cheapess), and a 20 pin PSU WILL NOT work with that board.

edit: Oops, you edited the post, I'm too late.

Ehh... Most people woulden't reccomend less than 350 watts, even if the PSU is a good brand like FSP (Forton).
