BlackStone - Thuban Submerged

post #1 of 19

Catchy title?

...crickets....

Hello everybody at OCN!

I'm here to start a build log for my shiny new build that is currently in the making: BlackStone!

...Now thinking about it, that is a horribly unoriginal name....back to the drawing board! >.<

TANGENT KILLER!

So, here are the parts going into this build:
(bold = bought)

Main Components:
AMD Phenom II x6 1055t CPU
Gigabyte 890GX mobo
8GB Mushkin Ridgeback DDR3 1600 memory
ATI Radeon HD 5770 x2 (Only one purchased as of now T_T)
OCZ Vertex 60GB SSD x2 (boot drive) (Only one purchased again..T_T)
WD Caviar Black 750GB HDD (data drive)
Corsair HX1000 PSU
Silverstone Temjin TJ07 Case
Envision 19" Monitor x 2 (Gotta love free old company stock )

Water Cooling Parts
EK Supreme AMD Copper/Plexi CPU Block
Swiftech MCP-655B pump

~~~~~SUGGESTION BOX~~~~~~~~~
Does anybody have a suggestion for
a 480 radiator that's sub $100?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EK 5770 GPU blocks
EK Multioption Resevoir
Danger Den Fill Port
Tygon Clear Tubing
Feser Aqua Ultra Pure Water
Feser Anti-Corrosive

The purpose of this build is to offer me a bench station which I will mainly use for Programming. Does a programmer need all this power?

...

Of course we do!! WE'RE POWER WHORES!!!!!!

The build will also be used for internet surfing, gaming, and maintaining exclusive bragging rights and roundhouse kicks to the faces of my friends who insist on purchasing name brand computers and proceeding to say their tower is better than mine!

...old dell desktops...bad memories! AWAY WITH YOU!

TANGENT KILLER!

Anywho......I'll be posting some pictures shortly.....

In the meantime, does anybody have any reasoning as to why murdermod inverts the ATX tray? I mean, it's cool and all.....but I cant figure out why they do it...

Also I know the TJ07 is meant to be modded, which is why I purchased it. I'd like to know/see some of your mods that you've done to your TJ07 or other mods you've seen that looked catchy.

Especially mods made for the watercooling parts.

Thanks in advance!

PICTURE TIME!

I would have went with a 890FX board, but that's just me. Nice build.

You didn't happen to name build this after the megafund private equity firm, did you?

I would have as well, but at the time my budget was tight, and I went with the 890GX board because I got a really good deal on it.

And I'm not sure what that company is, so no. I just merged two words together that happened to be the first to come to mind

I only know of it because I'm a finance major, and all finance majors aspire to work for that firm some day. Anybody who works there is automatically a badass .

Geez O.o

I can see why!

I'm going back to the drawing board with the name anyways. I don't think even this beauty could live up to that name XD
