x64 os? - Page 3

Ya, it must be in .iso format for it to be bootable. Yes, you will need to reformate, btw. They compleetly recoded the kernl for 64 bit, so it is not at all compatible with 32-bit windows instalations. As for how it works, it runs great! I have had almost no problems getting my apps to work, as it has 32-bit emulation build it. I had one problem with my HP printer, but I found some unsupported beta drivers on another website.

If you have a seperate partition, you won't have to format. I dual boot between XP 32 bit and 64 bit (you get an OS select menu on bootup). It runs my games very well and drivers were not too bad of an issue. CS:S 64 bit is great, but has bugs. Most everything runs great!

No offense to Microsoft, I know they WROTE the damn OS, but there's no issues with dual booting. I blew away the partition I wanted x64 on and let the 64 bit installer create it and format it. The install was only like 20 minutes, I was impressed. Took me another 10 to get my drivers for the mobo from nvidia and I was golden. Even my old HP inkjet is up and running on it!
