Buying A8N-SLI deluxe/AMD3700 w/ a evga gforce7800gt...old sys compatibility question

Thread Starter
I have 2x 512mb 3200 ram sticks, 450w power supply, 3 12v fans, and the WesternDigi 120gig harddrive seen here: http://www.westerndigital.com/en/pro...27&Language=en.

I'm getting the Asus A8N-SLI deluxe/AMD64 3700 90nm 939pin Rev.E SanDiego combo, and throw in an eVGA E-Geforce 7800gt 256mb ddr3 16xpci-x.

Will I have any probs with using what I have now if I plugin the new stuff I'm getting, or will it be a clean easy install?

Thanks for any input, and sry for the long read!

That looks like a great setup mate . You shouldnt have any problems at all. You'll need to reformat your hdd with the hardware change, but my setup is almost identical and Ive had no problems whatsoever! Good luck on the build and keep us posted.

Thanks guys! I'm very excited about this project...haven't updated for about 2 years, so this should beef up my baby pretty well. Pretty reasonably priced too at under 700.

Haven't ordered anything yet, still seeing if I should switch anything before I actually buy. Why? See something that will be a problem?

no nothing is wrong is just that the 7800gt its 289 bucks
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130256
and the 7600gt its 199 bucks
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130283

The 7600gt(16 pipes) is smaller, has faster clock speeds but it also has 4 less pipes than the 7800gt(20 pipes)

GPU Geforce 7600GT
Core clock 580MHz
PixelPipelines 16 (EDIT: info from wikipedia, newegg dosent say how many its has, the nvidia website says it coems with 12 only... so yea never mind go buy the 7800gt man XD!! and check out the 7900's they start around 319 bucks)
Memory
Memory Clock 1500MHz
Memory Size 256MB
Memory Interface 256-bit
Memory Type GDDR3

GPU Geforce 7800GT
Core clock 450MHz
PixelPipelines 20 ( new egg says 20 pipe lines, but Nvidia says 24, so now im all confused, i want to know how many pipelines the 7600gt comes with.... any one knows?)
Memory
Memory Clock 1100MHz
Memory Size 256MB
Memory Interface 256-bit
Memory Type GDDR3

If you're considering phase change, you'll find better Overclockers than that Asus.

Well I have no clue about anyhting dealing with overclocking, I tried reading some of the stuff here and didn't really get it. I think what I get I'll be leaving stock unless anyone would mind laying down the basics of it for me?

edit- actually I just saw the guide to OCing as a stickie...maybe ill check that out.

Any more thoughts on my 3 new goodies?
