x1900XTX VS x7900GTX "Debate" - Page 12

In regards to someone asking about the 7600gt it signifigantly outperforms a 6800gs and I believe it is about equal to a X850XT.

I have seen people say that the x1900xtx will beat the 7900 series for image quality in shader heavy games, but the benches showed the 7900 beating the x1900xtx in Fear with everything enabled, except in 1600*1200. I returned my x1900xtx and ordered 2 7900gt's for my sli rig. That set up beats the x1900xtx in most benches, and even beats 2 of them in Xfire in some benches. That is at stock speeds, and with buggy drivers according to nvidia. So I would bet that rig will best the x1900xtx in Oblivion. They probably created Oblivion to run better on Nvidia cards seeing as how they used them for testing. And as for ATI cards running HDR and AA at the same time, go to
http://www.oblivionportal.com/
and read what the programmer sais. There is a huge thread on this topic. To sum it up, no card on the market can run both at the same time, and Oblivion will not allow you to do so. I would have kept my x1900xtx if that would have been the case seeing as how Oblivion is probably the main thing I'll play until the G8 series hits and we all upgrade again. But he cleary states that HDR and AA will not run at the same time in the game. Any thoughts??

Bar non the 7900GT is the best performer for the price, and some said it's not worth the $300 if they have a 7800GT. Not really, since you'll only be paying up to $100 for more performance after you sell the GT. It will get you tyo DX10 but I want more and I paid $80 for a 7900GT and getting more performance.

I'm getting my 7900GT next Thursday and I'll run every single benchmark I can run and I'll compare it to my 7800GT, which could handle a very high clock and I scored the same as, if not better, a GTX.

The 7900GTX is not a knockout blow to Ati, but was never meant to be. Even with 700MHz I dont think it would be a killer card. The 2 are even, enough said. If you run a higher Res, get the XTX, if you are like 90% of the consumers out there than do not run higher than 1280x1024, get the GTX.

For the price the GTX is the best card for the high end and the 7900GT destroys the 1800XT 512MB. No need to compare the 7900GT to a 1900XT since they are in 2 totally different performance and price tiers

u have a good point and yeah plz if u get ur 7900gtx show some pix plz. I havnt seen any1 gettin it with benchines yet . Also i would like to know about this overclock bug!
yeah yeah...

Sorry but Monday is unlikely from the way I see it, its not just the 7900GTX but also a new MOBO/CPU and RAM so I am looking at a whole system tear down, rebuild and a reformat and reinstall of XP which will definitely take late into the night considering I get home from school at around 4PM Plus the stuff gets delivered to my dad's office so I wont get the parts until he gets home which sometimes is a bit later lol. But I can promise you I will try my hardest and bench that card ASAP, I might even just stick it into my current computer before I tear it apart and bench it, that way I'll be able to see how much my new CPU and RAM will benefit me also.......

The 7900GTX can pump out more pixels than the X1900XTX but the X1900XTX has more shader power and you can see that in especially in FEAR with soft shadows enabled.
Very nice!

Why were you happier with the 9800 pro than the 6800GT?

Looks great, 1900xtx beats it in some tests but not in others, so both are roughly the same. Go for the nvidia, better drivers.

1900xtx been around for a while so drivers have matured and its at its peak but 7900gtx drivers have not matured and so its full potential has not been uncovered yet. The 7900gtx will beat the 1900xtx in the future.
