X1900xtx has not been around for a while, and their are only 2 catalysts versions that support the x1900xtx so to say that it is at it's peak is entirely untrue. I want to see someone here with 7900GTX single card benchies, then we can compare scores. I am running s754 with single channel memory and a 2T command rate, but I can still probably compete with any s939 and 7900gtx system.

I returned my x1900xtx and ordered 2 7900gt's for my sli rig. That set up beats the x1900xtx in most benches, and even beats 2 of them in Xfire in some benches. That is at stock speeds, and with buggy drivers according to nvidia.
The 1900xtx doesn't look beaten against the 7900gtx in FEAR in these tests. It even handled well against the OC'd 7900gtx. I don't think you can put either card on top for performance. I think it's time for another picture quality review to see how they match up.

actually the msi 7900gtx has the same cooler as the 7800gtx 512

that could be a 7900gtx

I agree. My choice has more to do with the Fan/Heatsink Assembly and heat output of X1900XTX and not the GPU's ability. These top of the line cards might show some difference quantitively but I doubt any real differences in gameplay will follow markedly.

Well my 7900GTX is here, installed and ready to go ask away!!

EDIT/// Looks like I made the right move based on heat/noise, mine idles at 41c (just like the reviews I'd seen) and is DEAD silent, during boot up the fan quickly goes to full throttle to test itself out and even then its barely audible with my case open! (had 2 HDDs in for diagnostic purposes and to copy over my music I had backed up )

I agree with Ropey, ATI has some problems with the noise of their cooling system. Also ATI has a MUCH high heat output and powerconsumption. With the 7900GTX far cheaper, its is a clear victor IMO, regardless of who gets more 3dmarks.

I just finished playing BF2 at 1280x1024 with 4xaa and all maximum graphics settings and after 20 minutes, the FPS had never dropped below 100fps!! Im not even joking you it was stunning. I noticed things in the game that hadn't been there with my X800XL....I think I'm in love with my 7900GTX (although I cant help but feel that with a 4.21GHz dual core and 2GB of RAM, my X800XL could probably handle BF2 at max settings too....though the game would lower its shader quality significantly and it wouldnt be at a solid 100fps

Will? What makes you think that? I think "may" is a better word to use.
Very nice!
