x1900XTX VS x7900GTX "Debate" - Page 14

the cooling on the x1900's sucks. the fan is loud and it doesnt cool the GPU worth a dam.

the cooling on the 7900 is pretty good, cools the card well enough and is quite

performance x1900xtx is slightly better, but who knows when it get hot in a not well ventitlated case it may thermal throttle to much lower speed.

Nvidia has the slightly better drivers
no good OC tool for ATI

both are good GPU's
both are too expensive.

unless you are play latest games @1600x1200 or higher you dont need either one.

@1280x1024 the 850 XT PE or 7800gt at half the price should fine.

recieved one of my 7900gt's today, will get the other tomarrow and put it in. So I'm still using the x1900xtx and I got the Viewsonic n2750w 27" hdtv widescreen monitor in the mail and played everygame I have on it and WOW. It is amazing. At newegg it was only $710, has an 8ms response time, and is so bright it hurts. To the guy in this thread that said It will own my system, wrong. The one x1900xtx runs everything fine, but the native is 1368*768. I have most things running in 1240*760 because I like the way they look. I can't wait to get the 2 gt's installed and see how it does. In fear stress test with all enabled and maxed running at 1240*760 I got at average of 61fps. In Lost Coast test the average with everything maxed out was 52fps. No ghosting at all. I am absolutely in love with this monitor. Makes my 21" mitsubishi diamond plus look like a small child. Once I overclock everything tomarrow I will hopefully push these numbers up some. Last 3dmark06 run before the monitor arrived was 3813 overall. 842 cpu score brings it down a lot .

even if componet work i might try again. i see the setup thing in CCC but didnt want to waste more time on something that doesnt work.

How far do you sit away from the monitor though?

actually i have an LCD and i play at 16x10. i'm getting a bigger one as soon as HDCP compliant LCDs come out.

competition drives innovation and lowers prices. to me, it won't matter which is better as long as they're fairly close in performance and price. my last two cards before my 7800GT were ATI, and before that it was an Nvidia. i go with whichever will benefit me, the consumer. so for some of you, please stow that blind fanatical fanboyism that you can't help but exhibit. it ruins a good discussion.

I don't care what anyone says, I still love my Westinghouse, even if it does top out at 1920x1080!

I can connect with either DVI or VGA, or even component, if I wanted to. No internal HDTV tuner tho... guess ya can't have everything *sigh*

BTW... I am about to run the 01 test on my 7900GTX as soon as it finishes downloading...
