x1900XTX VS x7900GTX "Debate" - Page 4

FEAR at max settings and max resolution will most likely bring a single 7900GT down, since it's got very similar performance to the 7800GTX. But lightsource is right, the $600 cards are for people that only want to brag about their benchmarks, not have a good PC for a good price.

A little off topic, but does anyone know anything about the 7600GT? it's priced slightly higher than the 6800GS, and the clock speeds are insane... (550 core/1500 memory, according to the Egg)

Also, even if neither one beats the 1900 at stock, they're 90nm chips, and so they will OC like hell. 7900 all the way
Just something to think about, but if you've been following the development of the 7900gtx, you'd know that Nvidia's partners were strongly encouraging Nvidia to deliver a 700+ mhz core. If the gpus "OC like hell" as you're stating, why was the gpu frequency cut to 655 mhz?

Plus, consider cost and dual-card systems. The 7800GTX 512 is still king when it comes to dual cards, since the X1900 Crossfire master card is slower than the X1900XTX. The 7900GTX 512 seems to be better than the 7800 card, so it's looking like it's going to stay on top. Plus, the 7900GTX is estimated at what, about $500? The XTX is $630 at NewEgg. So even if the X1900XTX does beat it, I'm sure the price difference won't be justifiable for the tiny bit of performance.
totaly disagree. About 80% of the gamers uses single cards so if u r comparing sli's and crossfire's is outta debate...plus the price different will be for x1900xtx in my opinion there has been no card had a low price at release day!!
yeah yeah...

as i said i dont think the lowest price would go to Nvidia cuz their card just released... it will take about 2 - 3 months or so to bring down the prices. By that time x1900xtx they r in top with their low price and their high performance.

I never said that SLI/Crossfire was the majority of the market. Very few of us can afford (or need to afford) to buy a 7900GTX/X1900XTX anyway, this debate is purely which we think will perform better. And since dual card systems is an option with both cards, it is something more to consider.

And if you think that the 7900GTX's price is high at the moment because of release day, and will soon drop, how does that help the X1900XTX at all? That just means there will be a bigger gap in price between the two cards.

Edit: Nice triple post, by the way.

I thought the 7900's were already cheaper than the 1900xtx, well a couple of them are, PNY has some cheap prices.

question: why do I hear people talk about waiting until DX10 comes out before they buy a video card? The specs on the card say "built for vista". Jeeez...I have my cursor on the "confirm order" button here..............

from my knowledge the 7600's arent specifically designed for gaming so i would stick to the 7800 and 7900's for the performance in games

just depends on what you want to use it for really
