x1900XTX VS x7900GTX "Debate" - Page 10

The link above is a good article and show that neither really come out on top, but each of the cards perform better in different situations.

Looks like the 7900GT would be a good deal if your in the market for a new card, but there is no way I'm going to spend $300 to upgrade from a 7800GT.

dudes, its all been said and done, and looking through this thread i think we can come up with a few conclusions:

1900XT/XTX(50mhz core speed is negligible) = 7900 GTX 512
7800GTX 256 = 7900GT
7800GTX 512(esp. OCed) = 7900GTX 512

So performance wise, ATI's top card = nVidia's top card.

Price wise is a little bit different because ATI's been doing some price chopping as of late. It has been reported that ATI has chopped the price of the XTX up to $100 USD (about $116 CAD). So this is to make the XTX pretty much the same price as the 7900GTX 512. They've also slashed the prices on the XT, x1800s, and a few other cards.

if (above is true){
then ATI = nVidia;
System.out.println("Theres no freaking difference!");
}

I post this in hope that SOMEBODY will lock this thread. and kitt3, the choice is obviously yours, and it really does NOT make a difference, but whatevers a vailable to you right?

At this time right now, unless ALL of you guys are specifically getting these cards to benchmark, there's really no reason in getting a $600 dollar card. I mean, all of you know that you can run just about any game out with 1280x1024 with everything on high (maybe not F.E.A.R.) and still get very good fps without any drop or anything. I mean, if you honestly play games at 1600x1200 then more power to you, but chances are if you want a good display, you're going to have to spend another $500-700 on a 20.1"+ LCD display.

And then so the system wont bottle neck you'll need a dual core processor running at least $800 (X2 4800+), and the main thing to think about here is the fact that nobody really NEEDS that much power, I mean of course this is coming from a guy with a 5700LE (2 Generations behind), and a 3200+ Winchester, so I can't really determine for SURE that nobody needs it, but chances are people are going overboard.

My point?

Get the 7900GT, if you are a gamer, get the 7900GTX or X1800XTX if you want to benchmark. Or you have the ULTIMATE GAMING MACHINE 8,000,000,0000,0,0,0,00,0,0,0,00,00,00,000...
Right on with your bad self ha, i agree my 6800GS plays BF2 on all high, and im not compaining, but play at 800x600 because i dont really see the difference
