Oh and if your going to set a arugement I already know what ya going to say so dont bother.

Soft had trouble developing graphics for thier games early then and after same here thiers no diffrence except a change in technology. But it was difficult for them to work with the technology back then and now so dont start with me..

If you got something else

This FFXII better not be crap like the demo..they tried reinacting some KH gameplay into which is dumb I liked the original gameplay it better not be crap.
Well if you think about it FF7 came out in 1997 and FF8 came out in 1999 thats 3 years, and making a PS2 game would take a lot longer than a PS their is way more that goes in to it so 2 more years added sounds right to me.

Now, FFX-2...that's another story. I didn't enjoy it at all until I stopped thinking it should be more like FFX and just played it as a basically standalone, very non-story driven RPG. It wasn't that bad in that context.
The FFX story just seemed bland to me and its game system was the terribly broken, second to FFVIII's junction system. The magic system made the game very simple, since you could make anyone cast any spell you wanted. The graphics where great, the actual battle system was alright.. swapping party members again made it very easy. Too many things are left un explained in the story line and it just ends on a bad note for me.

the game was just too easy with a weak story and predictable, with highly uninteresting characters.

I really do consider it to be my least favorite final fantasy games, right next to final fantasy 5 and 9.

I will grant you that it is a lot easier than the earlier FF games. I think this is the first one in which I beat the foozle* on the first try.

I kind of liked the leveling up board in FFX. Sure, you could make anyone use magic if you wanted to; but you coul do that in a lot of games too, e.g. FF7 did it with materia; and since anyone could use a materia as soon as you acquired it, there was no "but you have to learn X, Y, and Z first" to enable magic in non-magic users. So I think FFX's board was a well implemented way to allow the "let my characters do anything I want them to do" customization many people want (see a similar conversation in the Elder Scrolls Oblivion thread in the PC section) while still retaining some sort of directed growth for the characters.

(* For those who don't know, "kill the foozle" is an old-school term for the kind of RPG where the entire game is just leading up to a battle with one big, bad, final bad guy, a.k.a. the "foozle". Almost all RPGs seem to be "kill the foozle" games; the only ones I can remember playing that aren't are Ultima 3-8.)

The magic board was an alright idea... but it was too free..

Yuna casting black magic = broken.

The game was very customizeable... It just didn't appeal to me that much

Ever play the first final fantasy? Talk about a freaking hard game

Dude did you not here me. Technology was just as hard to work with then and now since for the fact it was hard for them to develop the graphics we can easily devlop it. But now its just as hard for us as it is for them think about it!

Personally, I'm excited about the rumors of a remake of FFVII for ps3--I mean, I still replay ff7 once and while, could you imagine what it would be like on the new hardware?

That's just not true at all, unfortunately. As technology changes, it sometimes becomes much more difficult to work with that technology. The PS2's Emotion Engine was notoriously more difficult to write games for than the Playstation. Rumor has it that the Cell processor is a total bear to work with, so PS3 games could be even harder to create than PS2 games.

By contrast, the concensus seems to be that working with the X360 is a relative breeze.
