I'm getting it today as well. I loved the first one and the only negative thing about it was the predesignated build spots, which has been changed in part 2. I thought the first one had excellent graphics and the sound was sensational!

I've had a couple of days now, its awsome, no bugs that I've seen yet. Looks good and plays good . I play 1280x1024 and full detail and my computer struggles a little. CPU power helps in RTS, so running stock is probably the problem.

When you say full details, do you also mean full AA and AF? Also, are there shadow options? (that's the performance killer)
Edit: Btw, what are you running your Opty at?

1280x1024, all details maxed in game, 4x AA and 16x AF forced in drivers. I haven't paid much attention to what the detail options are in game, they just defaulted to highest . Give me a second to fire it up and I'll see what they say.

Opteron is at 2GHz, 200x10.

EDIT: ah, its defaulted to "High" overall, but there is "Ultra" available on a few settings. As you can see in the screenshot, Model Detail, Animation Detail, VFX Detail, Water Detail and Shader Detail can go up a notch, the other settings (inluding Shadows) are at High and can't go further.

Very nice info! Rep for you Btw, how are the new "powers" that you acquire? I really liked the healing power because when combined with the Wizard (Gandolf), he's a major force

The powers are pretty sweet. I haven't used them much, apart from an Elf one that turns an area green and fertile, it seems very effective. The healing one is good in the middle of battle thats going bad. I love the heroes, they gain power really quickly, and some of their abilities are amazing. Mounting and dismounting from their horse is very useful for a turn of speed.

I never played the original and I've not played this long so I'm still learning my way, I tried a skirmish last night and got hammered by a medium opponent I'm more used to C&C.

If you're new to the game, the first thing you should try to do is to keep a couple units alive. They get A LOT stronger as they level up. If you get, for instance, Gandolf to level 10 and combine that with healing, he can take out an entire army by himself if used properly. Units die quickly, but if you can get a unit or 2 to level up, you'll see how strong they get. The trolls get rediculously strong as they begin wearing armor. (past level2 i believe) Yep, I'm most definitely picking this up today! Btw, the green "lush" that you were talking about gives a large defensive bonus to all units standing on it. It was very effective in the first game.

I've noticed that units are a lot more effective at higher levels. In the single player campaign I have the Dwarf (Gloin?) and the Elf lord (Glorfindel) at level 9, and they can beat anything they come across. Glorfindel leading a couple of untis of cavalry with elven armour and forged blades are really powerful. The Dwarves can take more damage but I prefer the Elves because of their speed.

I just got the game and its a LOT harder than the first one. I cant seem to get started as fast as in the first game and the AI seems much more aggressive at only the Medium setting; However, I am frustrated by how stupid the easy enemy is. There really is no perfect setting for me. Right now I have to try pretty hard to beat a medium enemy with a 10% handicap. =\\. Graphics look great though and the same sound quality from the first game made it into the second, top notch.

They really did a lot to make the game better than the public demo. There was so much unbalanced behavior in the demo that I didn't think I was going to buy the game, but it all worked out. I have not built any walls yet, which was a major problem with the demo (they were WAYYYY too weak) but from what I can tell the game is just more balanced and its not quite as much a "rush war" that the demo was.

I would recommend this for any BFME 1 fan and anyone that likes gameplay similar to Generals and WCIII.
