A worthy upgrade?

Would it be worth to upgrade from my 6800gs to a 7900gt?

I plan to play Quake Wars when it comes out, and it seems as though my 6800gs is somewhat lacking....(it struggles somewhat with FEAR 1024/768 at maximum settings and Quake Wars seems like a very GPU intensive game). Even though my current card eats through Doom 3 and Quake 4, do you think it will run Quake Wars on high settings because it is based of the Doom 3 engine? I don't wana burn $500 (7900gtx/x1900xt) on a dx9 video card with dx10 around the corner, so would it be a worthy upgrade?

BTW I work at Osh, and make slightly above minimum wage (17 year old starving High School Senior).

Mmm... as a person who's used a budget gfx card all his life, I'm not sure. With a 17'' monitor, however, 6800GS should be able to handle all max resolution and some high-quality imaging in most games. I really see no point... however, the gamers on ocing.net may say, "Yes, it's super worthy."

As long I have soft shadows disabled FEAR's playable at 1600x1200. It gets good frame rates at either medium/high settings or down at 1280x1024. If you can, get the new card and maybe sell your 6800gs, but if it's a stretch on your budget, wait, I'd say.

Yeah....I guess I'll pocket my money, or put it towards a decent 2x1gb set of ram. Thx for the input.
