4870x2 LED R323 on after 30 seconds

Hi guys

Hope someone can cast an experience eye over my issue.

My system has recently started becoming very unstable and turns out my R323 led is coming on after about 30seconds into bootup.

4870 X2
D14 (R753) 6 Pin power unplugged
D13 (R724) 8 Pin power unplugged
D15 (R819) Overheating (Thermal issue)
D5 (R323) GPU-1 (Master) No power
D7 (R570) GPU-2 (Slave) No power

Is this something I can solve myself or is the card goosed?

Have watercooled my system for well over a year with no changes and regularly checked temps with nothing unusual seen.

Have tried the following:

disconnected all components apart from mem, 4870x2, single monitor - no change
moved 4870x2 to 2 other available slots - no change
swapped power connectors - no change
swapped out psu - no change

any advice appreciated

mobo: msi 790fx-gd70
cpu: phenomII - 955
mem: 2*2gb ocz pc3 14400 8-8-8@1.9v

Are you using an EK 4870x2 block by any chance? That killed mine a while back, never found a solution for it.

hi lemonslice - no I'm using 2 zalman blocks.

am hoping i havent zapped a core by doing this.

is this led normally attributed to a core being damaged or just not getting power from the psu or bios problem?

Hi,
sorry 4 digging out this thread.
I am frank from Germany and i have the same problem with my 4870 x2 at the moment and the same question cause of the D5 (R323) Led shining.

how did u solve the problem?

grateful getting answer

greetings.

(i think about it could be my psu - 600 watts ocz, but have no testing possibility at moment).

Hi,
I also have the same problem as apoptosius.
I've got a (Club 3D) 4870x2 and R323 red light is on (meaning no power to master card).
I immediately BSOD everytime I go fullscreen, like a game. This is because in fullscreen both cores are always switched on.
I have a 650W, this should NOT be the problem..
Could it be my (our) card died?

Before some wannabe's reply with 'update drivers' or 'clean pc' .. I have tried all that trust me smile.gif
