Seating a heatsink sans ihs

Well I have a couple questions because I've recently upgraded and am finding it hard to find resources that match my scenario. I have my Opteron 165 without its ihs under a zalman 7700Cu with 4 little rubber "feet" on the corners of the cpu's pcb so it doesn't crush the core. It's overclocked to 2.7 ghz currently and I'm not sure if I'm getting good enough contact because my temps get pretty high under load (52-54C+ 8+ hrs dual prime with case open, Idles 32-34C). I'm wondering if anyone has a similar set up and can give me advice on how to modify my 7700Cu's mount to get better contact. A picture of my current overclock is attached. Thanks for replys

I also have the 4-heatpipe stock cooler, has anyone tried using this heatsink after removing the ihs from their cpu? I think that it might work better than my 7700Cu as it is supposed to be on par with the xp90 (7700Cu < xp90 = 4-heatpipe stock). Can anyone confirm that? I'm going to test this out soon, I just have little time these days.

Pull out the HSF, remove the rubber stops that u have reapply AS5 or any type of thermal grease u have. When u screw the HSF make sure, one side is screwed in SNUGLY not too TIGHT, then do the other side same procedure then if both sides are screwed in snugly now u start tightening them. the problem could be since u removed the IHS the screw u are using is too long, try using a shorter screw. and update ur bios if u havent yet.

Cool thanks man, I'll try that when I get the chance. Should I have anything instead of the rubber feet, I'm worried about crushing the core?
