Newegg has the XFX 5850 (looks like v2 non reference) for $270 shipped with coupon code EMCYVYX26

Not a bad deal for a new 5850

I am sure many would pick it up at this price if it had voltage adjustment. Still a great card probably be able to get atleast 825 core clock.

Is there a hard mod or pencil mod for this PCB?

Theres a throw it out the window mod for this PCB because its XFX and you might as well throw it out a window if you ever run into any problems. Really hating on XFX at the moment for the white jizz from factory getting RMAs turned down. I wouldn't waste my money on this, in my experence XFX ATI cards generally are worse than other brands at OCing.

ATI/Nvidia provide reference designs to the manufacturers, most cards sold are based off this design. Sometimes, manufactureres will make a non-reference design to implement more features, cut costs, improve overclocking performance, and such
