Still Confused With CPU/DDR Ratio

Thread Starter
Hello again guys,
yups me still working on OC and still confused with this CPU/DDR ratio, now i have
FSB 235
HT x3
Multiplier x10
CPU/DDR Ratio 2/2
Now according to my BIOS SETUP CALCULATIONS, my DDR Speed is supposed to me 470, now if i increase the Ratio from 2/2 ,2/1.8,2/1.5......2/1 my DDR Speed reduces, SO Does this mean a higher CPU / DDR will get us more DDR Speed......!
So at this stage i am supposed to have,
2.35Ghz
and
470 DDR Speed with sychronous mood, AM I RIGHT coz the ratio is 2/2, 1:1...!

If your using a 939 mb then set your Htt to 4x after your fsb goes past 250 then reduce it to 3x

Ok done , now , the
FSB is 250
HT is x4
CPU/DDR 2/2
Whats the result now, coz i wanna compare it with the RESULt FROM MY mOBO CALCULATION RESULTS

at 1:1 your RAM freq is the same as your CPU. If you lower your RAM freq then you have more headroom to raise your cpu freq without maxing your RAM.

eg.
@ x9 cpu freq.
1:1 - I can only push my cpu clock to about 238 after that my RAM limits my machine because it becomes unstable over 238MHz.(2.14GHz)

2:1.66 - I can increase my cpu clock to 268 without maxing the RAM. RAM freq is 219.3 (2.41GHz)

2:1.33 - I can increase my cpu clock to 290. RAM freq is 186.4 (2.61GHz)

however @ x8.5 I can put my cpu clock at 300 and with a 2:1.33 ratio my RAM runs at 196.2 (2.55GHz - my most stable configuration and the one I run at)

I'm using DDR400 RAM

The above is my understanding of the FSB:RAM ratio......if it is wrong, I apologise

@ x10 your speed would be 2.5GHz with RAM at 250MHz = 500 DDR

Theoretically

Enter your fsb on this and it will tell you what your ram speed will be. Notice that your ram speed will change as you change cpu multipliers, unless you keep it at 1:1 with your htt.

ok, so what should be the best combination, either1/1 or 1:1
OR 2/1.3,2.1.5 etc....!
i have a 200Mhz MAX RAM i.e PC3200, Corsair 5122 *2 and other specs in my PROFILE

Not enough information to answer that question. How fast can your cpu go and how fast can your ram go before it's unstable? If you don't know, you need to test and find out. There's a FAQ to walk you through doing so.

Well well, i got it NOW,
my current Speed at 232 FSB is 2.3Ghz with a Memory Freq of 116, but my MAX Mem Freq is 200Mhz, so i should try hitting something near 200..RIGHT and try to increase the CPU speed as well at the same time

You're telling me that your ram because unstable at 201 mhz?? I've never seen ANY ram not be able to OC at least a few mhz, especially namebrand ram. The goal is to max out your cpu and your ram. Once you know your max speeds individually, you can use the front page of Gogar's Tool to find the best overall system settings.
