I have a 6800GS (but you can see that lol) and I can put everything on max details (I haven't tried ultra) at 1600x1200 at a decent frame rate.

Or try to get one of the guys here to sell you their 6800gs because everyone seems to be (saying they will be) upgrading to a 7900/7600.

The ram will help with textures, as mentioned before, and smoothen the load times but thats about it. The 6800gs is great for its price range ($154 after rebates).......and it performs very well....especially when OC'd.

X800s (non pro/xt/xtpe)are ok.....they used to be great, but now they are kinda dated.

Your best bet would be an x1600xt, 6800gs, or x850xt......the x850xt is the best of these three, and they can be found for $169 after rebates.

PS: Don't bother with the 6800GT; It performs identical with the 6800gs, but it runs hotter, OC's less, and is about 50-60 dollars more expensive.
