I would definitly say the dell XPS.

Its the chapest rigth now, and has alll the goodies. not only that, but they sell graphics upgrade kits so when the 8800 comes out u should be able to upgrade and throw one in. The Pentium M sohuld last atleast 2 years, its sa great laptop and preety inexpensive now. $1,800 with a coupon and with a 7800GTX. Preety impressive. I'm buying one myself probably.

I just can't imagine how a laptop could be good for gaming. How do you keep them cool?

Plus the HDD isn't as fast and most of them have integrated video.

IMHO I just think that laptops don't last as long. If you move it when it's on, doesn't that damage the harddrive? Plus the screens are so small. You'd have to lug around a seperate keyboard/mouse and a decent pair of speakers. I don't think the dinky speakers would be that great for games. Maybe it's just me but I would never invest in a laptop for gaming.

actaully no, laptops have dedicated graphics cards ( the higher ones) and now they ocme with 7200RPM HDs which are preety fast.

I would buy the dell XPS M170 without question, its the fastest gaming laptop currently avaiable although if u want u could wait for the core duo if u want dual cores. Might be a while though. Although I heard next month Sager was releasing Core Duos witha mobility X1800. dont know the price though.

And the Gaming laptops have a 17' display, thats not small at all..

And the hard drive isnt damaged because they have newer technologies that when it senses a , " Violent movemnet" It locks the heads. The only way u'll damage a hard drive in a laptop is dropping it ofcourse.

No! Dont get the Dell XPS! Even though it looks cool, Dell charges you up your arse for their computers. Either get a cyberpower or ibuypower notebook, for bang-for-your-buck notebooks.

Ibuypower:

Good luck, but Dell is a rip off. teh X64 Ultra has a GeforceGo 7800GTX! The others have the ATI X700.

Every other computer that doesnt have a coupon is a rip off. Besides it has a Intel CPU, which arnt my favorite. Besides Dell doesnt have that many customizable options, and their support sux.
