is a 500W Sunmax PSU good enough for a AMD x2 3800+ overclocked to 2.4 or 2.5? ( I heard the Amds are very power effcient)

Proper cooling is necessary for any overclock, and 2.4 to 2.5Ghz sounds resonable. As long as your X2 CPU is having good temps while you overclock it. Your as safe as you can be.

Josh

P.S. Be sure to get an after market heatsink with artic silver 5 thermal compound. Ask if you need some suggestions about which heatsink to get. I can help you out.

I dont know if its true, but I heard the stock cooler with As5 on cool and quiet was fine for mostly any overclock i heard the heatsink on the X2 is amazing

The X2's for AMDs are the answer to Intels Hyper Threading. You will be fine with a stock cooler. But its always good to strive for excellence. I personally would get a after market heatsink considering I would be putting down a good $300 on my CPU. Just my thoughts, but yes. A stock cooler should be fine. There quiet good actually.

And yes, the 3800's have been getting some nice overclocks. One of my friends is going to purchase one soon

Correct . Soon the dual cores will be utilized, just gotta tough it out for now and get the same preformance as single core cpu. I would buy a mid-ranged PC right now buddy. Build it, make it look all pretty and what not, and then sell it on EBAY and buy a completely LOADED X2 rig

Agreed. Sell the rig if you can and make your investment in a X2 rig. I was thinking you were just going to buy a new PC from scratch with some money in your pocket right now.
