Helpful .bat file to Open CPU-Z/GPU-Z

post #1 of 34
Thread Starter
If anyone is interested, this is a quick batch file that I've written. Thanks to those who helped in this thread, it's now fully functional.

When run, the batch file opens two instances of CPU-Z (one to be changed to the memory tab), one instance of GPU-Z, and a text file containing credentials. This is perfect for HWBot's submission settings and also makes sure you have your name in your screen shots.

If you'd like to use this, create a text file and paste the following code into the file. Change the red paths to find your CPU-Z exe, GPU-Z exe, and notepad file. Save the text file and then change the extension to .bat and you're good to go!

Code:
@ECHO OFF
cd C:\\Users\\irdeng1\\Desktop\\All Stuff\\Flash Drive\\CPU-Z
START cpuz.exe
cd C:\\Users\\irdeng1\\Desktop\\All Stuff\\Flash Drive\\GPU-Z
START GPU-Z.0.4.4.exe
START C:\\Windows\
otepad.exe C:\\Users\\irdeng1\\Desktop\\All Stuff\\Flash Drive\\Competition\\Comp.txt
timeout /t 5 > NUL
cd C:\\Users\\irdeng1\\Desktop\\All Stuff\\Flash Drive\\CPU-Z
START cpuz.exe
exit

I wrote a batch file to make opening things easier/quicker for benching sessions. I have a few questions.

Here's the file I've written, btw:

Code:
@ECHO OFF
CD C:\\Users\\irdeng1\\Desktop\\All Stuff\\Flash Drive\\CPU-Z
START cpuz.exe
CD C:\\Users\\irdeng1\\Desktop\\All Stuff\\Flash Drive\\GPU-Z
START GPU-Z.0.4.4.exe
CD C:\\Users\\irdeng1\\Desktop\\All Stuff\\Flash Drive\\CPU-Z
START cpuz.exe
EXIT
As you can see, it opens two instances of CPU-Z and GPU-Z. I was having problems with CPU-Z getting mad at me for trying to open two windows simultaneously so I staggered the order. However, sometimes it's still too fast.

First of all, is there a fix for CPU-Z? Second, is there a simple way to make the batch file pause for ~5 seconds?

Oh and finally, can I have it open a text file?

I realize this isn't the perfect section for this, but I believe it applies enough and you guys don't smell as bad as the peeps over in the programming section

Hi, I'm using a batch file at start up to run a program after 5 seconds. This is what I used

ping -n 5 localhost > nul
post #4 of 34
Try this for pause:
timeout /t number of seconds to pause

Great success!

Code:
@ECHO OFF
cd C:\\Users\\irdeng1\\Desktop\\All Stuff\\Flash Drive\\CPU-Z
START cpuz.exe
cd C:\\Users\\irdeng1\\Desktop\\All Stuff\\Flash Drive\\GPU-Z
START GPU-Z.0.4.4.exe
cd C:\\Users\\irdeng1\\Desktop\\All Stuff\\Flash Drive\\CPU-Z
timeout /t 5
START cpuz.exe
exit
I'm a little confused. I turned echo off and none of the commands show up except for the timeout. It's nothing detrimental, just a little confusing. Any insight on how to hide that as well?

Echo off hides the command lines. The timer signifying a timeout appears because that's the operation it's meant to perform. If you want a blank screen you may want to consider using PING to add a delay.

I have not clue how to make a batch file. Do I zip it and rename it or just rename it?

Just edit it in a plain text editor and save with extension .BAT

I think you can add a "> NUL" to the end to prevent display.

When you say open a text file, do you mean for output from your batch file?

Or a text file on your desktop?

Just make the file with notepad. When saving the file make sure to change it to all files so that it doesn't save as a .txt file and save it as yourfile.bat.

Edit: Looks like 02 beat me to it.
