Help me find a replacement processor! Intel PPGA478.

Hello,

I have a oldish laptop at this point. Early 2007 Acer 9410Z. I upgraded the RAM already, going to go for a new hard drive/SSD and hopefully I will get some satisfying results.

So the current processor is a Pentium Dual Core T2060. It's a PPGA478 based CPU.

Spec sheet @: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=28021

I was hoping I could get atleast a Core Duo of some sort in there. But I don't want to spend alot.

I don't know if there are any CPUs to replace it anyway. But it would be great if I could get some possibilities.

Thanks so much.

Okay CPU-Z says its a 2050 and a 2060.

2050 is Core Duo

2060 is a Pentium...

LOL @ that?

A little bit of research never hurts.

Opinions on this bad boy?

Others have reportedly upgraded the CPU in the 9410Z to a Core 2 Duo, so I'd suggest considering a T7200, T7400, or T7600 rather than a Core Duo.

T7200 has a 677MHz FSB. The 940GML chipset supposedly has 533MHz. Can the processor downclock to 533MHz bus like I could do on a desktop?

A Pentium 4 is a downgrade from a Core 2. Especially from dual to single core.
